Connects to tv with hdmi and connects to your router, no ariel is needed, its all done via your broadband connection.

I presume your internet connection is a good one ?

It doesn't give me any problems - but I have no idea how powerful or fast it is.

Go to speedtest.com, run the test and post the download speed.

You might have mentioned it but who is your ISP ?

Yes, I think I need one of those & a freesat box with a hard drive.
    I've got Netflix.

That's probably about £300 for equipment & connection, that would pay for sky for nearly a year (I didn't have sports or films) & it was just so blooming easy!

If your planning on buying a Freesat box just get a normal Now TV box, [STRIKE]I'm sure the Freesat box will let you pause and rewind tv[/STRIKE] just like you could on Sky.

The Freesat box won't pause and rewind the subscription channels available only through the Now TV decoder.

Just a little note, we have Now TV and haven't found a problem with not be able to record, pretty much any big series appears in catchup/box sets straight away.

For example game of thrones currently has all the previous series on as a box set and the new one will simulcast with the US at 2am our time on the atlantic channel via the box, but will appear as a catchup link from 3am onwards.

So far we haven't found a programme we watch that hasn't then shown up in catchup.

Plus we rarely pay the full monthly price, there are usually plenty of offers floating around or passes you can buy with or without boxes. We are currently on a 6 month pass bought for £20 on black friday with a now tv box. You can also buy the passes online for less than the monthly fee.
