No, they don't.Money_saving_maniac wrote: »If you buy from a dealer you have an implicit 6 month warranty whether they like it or not.0 -
This could be a normal characteristic of this car. I have owned many Renaults over the years and every single one has given my left leg a work out.
They are so notorious for stiff clutches there is a joke that renault have fitted a spring behind the pedal because the French drivers use the clutch pedal as a foot rest.0 -
Blimey, they saw you coming !!
take a look Here, you could have had any of these for £5k, far lower mileage and 2 or 3 years newer !!
Never mind what other dealers say, have you got an experienced friend (or even friend-of-a-friend) who could drive it a few miles and tell you whether it seems wrong?I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

Legally the garage is responsible to fix whatever goes wrong for the six months or prove that there wasn't an issue when you bought it...but in real life it's a different story and it's quite challenging to solve anything if they refuse. Had similar story bought two cars from the garage my only had an issue with the key and blocked sunroof drains so got it sorted after some time (that included a few trips, talking to managers, phone calls, writing bad reviews online) unfortunately my husbands car just basically lost a gear box while driving maybe two weeks after, but couldn't get anything of the garage they refuse to even talk on the phone and all as he needed a car to work it was cheaper and quicker to Pay for ourselves than taking a legal action0

Not that simple, by a VERY long chalk.Legally the garage is responsible to fix whatever goes wrong for the six months or prove that there wasn't an issue when you bought it...
You're right about six months being the period in which it is assumed that faults were present at the time of sale. What you forget is that they are only liable for any faults which are not reasonably to be expected for goods of that age, value and apparent condition...
So, as a basic test, would it be reasonable to expect that fault if the car hadn't been freshly purchased used, but had been owned from new?0 -
quick update
after a few phone calls to the garage where the salesman first says this is not Tesco we don't to refundsand lots of other BS, I sent a letter. Result they took the car back yesterday and refunded the full amount!0 -
What should I expect from the garage, a fix or a full refund? Plus if they agree to refund what happens about my old car that they took in as a part exchange.quick update

So what did they do about the car you used as part exchange?0 -
Went back to the garage where I bought it from, the salesman didn't even have a look but said to come back next Friday for his mechanic to have a look.
Why would he? There's a type of person that becomes a car salesman, and that type of person is generally not someone who knows anything about the mechanical side of a car, most won't even know how to use a spanner.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
