The pragmatic solution is for the UK to adopt EU standards to try and reduce trade friction albeit without the same influence over those standards. It's politically difficult for the government because the media will be in a frenzy asking how come we still have to monitor the bendiness of bananas etc.

We may be losing a high value British bank with a huge global footproint thanks to Brexit, but that's OK because a budget German supermarket is moving in.
Well, they sell Pringles and microwave kebabs, and all the other things Brexit voters like so that must be good news.0 -

I ignored nothing. I just didn't think stating the bleeding obvious would be that enlightening.
Or that the EU would race to update all these regulations just to make the UK non-compliant?
Enlightening indeed, thank you.0 -

Then perhaps that Danes may well be the most affected by Brexit?

Shocking indeed Mayo.
No reasons there at all for some Danes to want out of the EU.

Oh and FYI the HSBC have been issuing threats to leave the UK for years now, certainly well before Brexit was even imagined.

It is very important indeed, HSBC like many other organisation are all preparing for worst case scenario that can be enacted if needed.
The fact that Aldi is creating 4k jobs is not a beacon of prosperity really.
Unless needed, most would have little desire to go shop at Aldi. I suspect working at Aldi is not high on the career aspiration either. Maybe you need to dig a bit more and ask why.EU expat working in London0 -

The consensus though is that there is no intention from the EU to punish the UK, though no EU member state wants to give the UK a free lunch, essentially the having the cake and eating it too.
The UK wants to be in a better position in relation to the EU than an EU member state.
There's the same uproar in the UK at the suggestion that post-Brexit EU nationals would have a better proposition than UK nationals.EU expat working in London0
