The money is safe in the sense that if it's in a Halifax savings account then it's covered by FSCS protection.Hi, if I already have over the required amount sitting in a Halifax account , are there any negatives to signing up with the prize draw? Is my money safe etc? Many thanks.
However, a sizable negative is the fact that Halifax's interest rates on savings accounts are derisory and easily beaten elsewhere....
I'm in the draw through having a Bank of Scotland Vantage account which pays a relatively reasonable rate of 0.6% for a current account. However, like many others I've been in the draw for many years and never won anything.

My comment about derisory rates on savings accounts was made a year and a half ago, and didn't relate to current accounts in any case! Halifax also give the impression that it's only savings accounts that qualify, rather than current accounts - I can't see any mention of Vantage or other current accounts at https://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/savers-prize-draw.html or the linked rules page, or the BOS Vantage page?moneyfoolish said:

Most Bank of Scotland branded personal retail savings accounts also qualify. Please see the rules (PDF) for more details.
Edit: https://www.bankofscotland.co.uk/savings/savers-prize-draw/faqs.html#section-0-item3 specifically states:4. Does money in a current account count towards the £5,000 savings balance requirement?

No, any balances held in current accounts will not be counted towards the £5,000 savings balance requirement.

I reckon your correct and they were actually telling me that I had registered so it's not surprising that I haven't won any prizes!!!!
