Woke up early so had a nice long shower and shampoo . Painter is finishing up the bedroom upstairs and it looks as if I will have a houseful on Saturday night so will have to get all the beds changed and dusting and hoovering done.

I still need to go out and vote and might try to get a hair cut and style as I am looking "eccentric" :o

Washing machine is on but it has been raining heavily so hoping to get a chance to hang laundry outside for a few hours. Dishwasher is loaded and I have chicken fillets to cook for tonight with onions and peppers.

I can't believe your brother is cutting back on phone calls already.
I am glad you are having a chance to relax and enjoy yourself even if only for a few hours.

    Hugs to all

NMLC, you have my sympathy, I'm well into my second week of sore throat and cough. It kept me awake until 4 this morning but I didn't wake DH who could sleep through a bomb going off (DS is the same, he once slept through a brass band marching down the street where he had a ground floor bedroom next to the road).

Re:brothers, you know the old saying 'Your daughter's your daughter fr all of your life, your son's your son till he gets a wife'. I must admit that didn't apply in DH's case, nor does it seem to be with DS but definitely 3 of my brothers were like that. Maybe it's a jealousy thing between the wife and the mother.

DS and DW have made an offer on the lovely house they saw and put their's on he market so now we wait and see.

Went to a podiatrist yesterday as I have a corn between my toes. She was very good but completely barking!
The best people usually are! :D Glad your feet are feeling better.Camelot

Oh Hester how i envy you. Starting again... a new life in front of you. Not sure i could live on a boat though but life for you is a new adventure. I think thats great. I'd start by chucking the bedroom furniture. Its as old as Gods dog.
Thanks for all your thoughts on mum and brother ...isnt it amazing we think we live in a forward thinking society and yet this thread alone shows how its still all down the female.
Nelski I think it might be a generation thing. I remember my Mom being resentful of her brother who was doted on when she was little. My Grandma wasnt much good in the housework department and it was down to my Mom and my Auntie to cook and clean house but my Uncle wasnt expected to do anything. He was treated as some sort of God. My brother was treated much the same.
I'm meant not to make any political posts on social media, which is just as well as we have quite enough strife in our house about that what with being diametrically opposed. We cancel out each other's votes.
ancientofdays 2 against 1 in my house.:D I'll be glad when its all over, hubby very often gets up on his soapbox and ive lost count of the times ive yelled at him "For goodness sake, give it a rest". I shall be accompanying Youngest to the polling station for the first time just to point him to the school hall, the desk where he will have to hand over his polling card and the cubicle, after that he's on his own. I'll wait for him outside since hubby and i sent off our postal vote a few days ago.
Took mum shopping and she told the cashier how i didn't take her shopping very often so she had to stock up when i did.

    Sorry but ...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Morning all,

Still wet here but the wind has dropped now. The park is very soggy and quite a few trees have come down locally.I've been to Mr Ms and stocked up on a few bits, and bread and milk,we go through so much milk in this house. Most of its put away now but I want to update my freezer book in a bit.

DGD is here for tea later as she didnt come yesterday,She hasnt been able to go back to school this week due to some structural damage.
The top I made yesterday doesn't look right on so I'll be having a fiddle round with that later.
Tru- love the bone :) Ly1a has the giant kong and I fill it with diced apple & peanut butter, and wedge a bigger piece in too so it lasts a bit longer. Its the only toy she hasnt diced :rotfl:I've stopped buying others now as I dont want her to choke.

Hope nmlc and everyone under the weather picks up soon.
Will vote later, and will be glad when its over.DH and DS dont agree
    Take care everyone xx

Nelski from the sounds of it i am lucky to be an only child I was adopted and mum n dad were told they were too old to adopt any more but she has many many friends whose children are wonderful maybe Nelski you are one of those. On a lighter note she bought some wine for a friend then called me to say it was completely wrong for her as it was for asian food and her friend is Irish .I felt like crying or becoming hysterical at this point i did try to explain it meant Chinese/Thai food but i don't know if she understood she thought it was wine for asian people as obviously no one else eats asian food :(

Hollyharvey well done on getting your trolley they really are a godsend aren't they What have you called yours Mine is 'Betty ' :) as my youngest DGS christened it for me about 10 years ago, where he got the name from is a mystery as he was only 3 at the time and as far as I know knew no one called Betty :):):)

I think the trolley is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time, it was so good to be able to buy what I needed yesterday and get everything home easily :)

I haven't named it yet, but I am going to give it a name. A few have been suggested over on the cooking for one board and at the moment I like Molly.

My middle name is Betty. That was a good choice by your grandson :D

Good afternoon everyone, thanks to nmlc for starting the thread (hope you feel better soon) and hugs to anyone that needs one.
It's pouring down here and I had planned to do some housework however, I'm up to my eyes in haggis, black pudding and sausages......
My poor Dad had a fright during the night when his fridge/freezer faulted and he woke to the smell of burning electrics....:( One quick visit from the Fire Brigade later and culprit identified and made safe. Fast forward a few hours and my Dad's here with the contents of his freezer (still frozen) so I've stashed what I can in the freezerand will cook the rest. He had recently got a meat order so there's loads. Two trays of sliced haggis have been baked and there are two trays of black pudding currently in the oven. The rest I'll sous vide when defrosted. Needless to say a new fridge/freezer arrives tomorrow:D.

A couple slices of the haggis have been liberated for a tasty lunch ........;)
