Morning all.
I'm hiding under the bed covers from my beloved hounds. If they know I'm awake they will nag me for their breakfast and I want to stay in bed another few minutes. They won't be very happy with what I've got in store for them today. A good haircut. They hate being messed with.
Message from youngest daughter. The gas board have condemned the gas fire... It was leaking co2 or something. I think they've had a lucky escape. We could have lost the lot of them. Doesn't bare thinking about. Comes at the wrong time (if ever there's a right time). 5 weeks to go till the baby comes and Son in law hasn't got any overtime. The boiler needs to be fixed too. The fumes are blowing inside down to the tremendous winds we have been having.
Message from Youngest. He's working away next week. Won't be long before hubby has to start working away. The job he's on is nearly complete and he's been given the heads up on the next job they want him for.
Onwards and forwards

Not raining at the moment but looks dull.
Going to visit Mother today and DH has said he wants to come with me
DH says what he thinks, he has hearing loss and often says it loud.
My mother will probably ignore me, just sit with her eyes closed.
Hope you all have a good day.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Its still cold and blowing a hoolie here, the trees are bending every which way.
OH will not be gardening this morning, might try and see if he will go up to Newark to look at a shed and the base which we hope will replace a slab or concrete one. Having looked very closely at whats growing I do not think its knotweed, its just coincidence its come up where we had it before. I need all the info for when the chap from the council comes.
My friend E came round yesterday with some fabric she had been given for me, a huge bag of various bits, some will make carpet type bags. I need to sort through it and decide whats worth keeping. I might use it to make a couple of bags for the stall. I will need to get some heavy weight strapping for handles.
Mince and dough balls for supper, I will prep it this morning, so I just have to re heat the mince and cook the veg later.0 -
Morning everyone,
Thanks for the thread nmlc, hope you feel better soon.
Wow TRU, that's what you call a bone :rotfl:
Like you say Judi, lucky escape with the fire but timing could be better.
Great haul TA
Dull and overcast here in EA, quick visit from me as we are off to do the food shop soon, visiting Ely as they have an Aldi's and I fancy a change, our current shop seems to go up every week so any savings would be most welcome as well.
Not much else planned for today apart from voting of course, will be glad when it's all over although believe that one problem will be replaced by many others, ho hum.
Have a food day folks x0 -
Morning
HH how exciting to be just ridding yourself of all unnecessary "stuff" I cant wait for the Tales of the river bank (yeah yeah I know its a canal:)) If you are ever on the Manchester ship canal anywhere near Warrington or Wigan then let me know I need to see your new home
Tru Not sure if its even dinosaur .....has anyone been reported missing over the last day or so
Karcher same question back to you hun are you eating OK?
Thanks for all your thoughts on mum and brother ...isnt it amazing we think we live in a forward thinking society and yet this thread alone shows how its still all down the female. Bro has even stopped calling her now which breaks my heart as I know how much that one call means to her
Think I got everything that can be done done yesterday lots of signing of things and calling companies with mum there then I could get permission to speak on her behalf. We went up to our favourite italian and I had a pizza which I managed half of and the rest is in my freezer
guessing there will be more to do as all the letters and certificates land but for now I feel I am in control
Managed to get mum 350 quid back on the car insurance ...does mean its not insured of course now but if need be I should be able to add it to my insurance if I need to take it anywhere for selling.
Today is a me day
I am going for lunch with a few of my book club friends to a local Indian restaurant. They have a lovely lunch menu for 6.95 that has everything most people would want. We will no doubt spend more on wine than we do on food but hey its one lunch that I am actually really looking forward to.
Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to :A0 -
Damnit. Internet ate my post. In short;
- Blinds fitted yesterday evening
- Ex text me saying congrats on the new flat. I'm suspicious.
Hester - You sound organised. You must be excited
Tru - That's a lot of chewing, hope Scampi enjoys it.
Have a nice day.0 -
Morning all.
Not a very nice one either, wet, windy and decidedly chilly brrrr !
I am up early, well for me anyway, as a broadband engineer is due anytime between 8am and 1pm. ( we'll probably be last on the list
)
Later a trip up to town is in order as DH has realised that some of his medication will run out over the weekend, so will get his prescription dispensed at the chemist. May call in Pound**retcher for a wander, depending on the time, then vote on the way home.
Dad is coming to tea today and we are having gammon, chips and peas. I have a fresh pineapple to cut up so may have some with the gammon, if it's ripe.
Right enough wittering, I'm off to cook the gammon joint as both men requested to have it cold.
Have a good day everyone
nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Good morning everyone and a bright and breezy day at the moment in Kent .I am just going to nip down and vote then will wait in for my gardener to arrive around 10.30.All this rain and intermittent sun has made the grass like a jungle
but he is a good chap and I'm sure it will look good by lunchtime.
Hollyharvey well done on getting your trolley they really are a godsend aren't they What have you called yours Mine is 'Betty '
as my youngest DGS christened it for me about 10 years ago, where he got the name from is a mystery as he was only 3 at the time and as far as I know knew no one called Betty
:):)
silver-oldie , I am so pleased with my hearing aid which I got last week, its made such a difference to my life, I can't believe why I waited so long to get one.
Gers you are such a nice person and your DM must be so glad she has someone who takes such good care of her xx
I too have smashing kids and they look after me as well:) my youngest DD popped in to see me yesterday as it was her day off and she had been to the hairdressers for a decent trim, and she looked great
She has not seen a haircut for about three years and it was almost waist length, now its really neat, and just below shoulder length and the lass did a really good job on it.
She is such a hard working lady and spends all of her spare cash on the family, and rarely spends any on herself, so I was really pleased that she had been and treated herself.
DGS Henry has his Maths GCSE this morning, fingers crossed for him, and DGS Ben gets his end of year results at Uni today so I have everything crossed for him as well He only has one more year to do there. He is off to Canada to see his girlfriend next month and I will probably give him some dollars to treat themselves to a decent meal with.
Nelski I hope all is OK and you are looking after yourself and eating properly, no skipping meals now
:):)
H/H I bet you can't wait to be on your boat forever and make it your own little nest. DD and I were talking already about when we move to the IoW in about four and a half years time
:):) What we will take and what we will get rid of
:):)
Right well its time to get a wriggle on, have a good day chums what ever you are doing ,enjoy it
be safe

Morning, I'm meant to be on a day off so will start work in a minute.
Rain, rain and more rain, but it was dry and breezy yesterday so got washing dry.
That is a massive bone and Scampi is a muscly boy!
I'm meant not to make any political posts on social media, which is just as well as we have quite enough strife in our house about that what with being diametrically opposed. We cancel out each other's votes.
Have a good day everyone, still thinking of you NelskiI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
