    Just plough on.
Rights of ways are irrelevant. Worst you get is a wee bit of training....

I remember sitting in my car at a particularly busy junction at rush hour. I was behind a Subaru Imprezza. The lights went onto green for traffic from the left but hardly any could move because of a box junction. Just before it turned to red the traffic cleared. A few people were so frustrated at the gridlock that they carried on through the lights on red. As our lights went to green the Subaru driver just floored his accelerator and he went straight into the side of the last car coming through on red. It was so stupid. A totally unnecessary collision. I thought I'll stop as a witness but then I realized the idiot in the Subaru was actually in the right so I just carried on. How could you support such stupidity?

How was the Subaru driver "in the right"? If you had stopped as a witness, you would have provided the evidence that he was guilty of driving into another car.

If they're already on the crossing, of course not. But it's the expectant cyclists waiting for traffic to stop before they use the crossing that I'm talking about.

There is no requirement to stop for pedestrians waiting to use the crossing either. It's just wise to.

It's upset a lot of people that one. It was obviously an accident but a lot of people think it was deliberate.

A car going through a green light hit a car that had gone through a red light. I assumed the accident would be deemed to be caused by the car going through the red light.

    .

There is. I got a minor fault on my driving test in 2013 for not stopping at a zebra crossing when someone was waiting.

But you could have provided the evidence of that, I bet both cars said they went on green.

    No, retro gamer is right.

The law requires you to give precedence to pedestrians on the carriageway, not the pavement.

However, if you don't stop for someone on the pavement, there is a real risk that they will step on to the crossing and you will have to do an emergency stop (or risk mowing them down). Hence the fault.

Green does not simply mean "go"
It means "go if the way ahead is clear"
