Hello....Any News?

My guess is poppycat got the brake pipes sorted, and saw sense that a second hand car wouldn't be expected to be 100% perfect. Especially when it's not particularly expensive to do.
Smear multi-purpose lithium based grease on the new brake pipes every-so-often and they should never need replacing again.0 -
i think we are all missing one vital thing here, poppycat had the chance (or get someone else to) look under the vehicle and the bonnet and point out all the problems and ask for them to be repaired before she handed over her cash.
i honestly feel her claims are ridiculous,as a few others have said there is no measurement for how corodded the pipes were,if she had taken it to another MOT test station it may have even passed.
usually if you wire brush the pipes and apply some corrosion inhibitor this will make the pipes look better and they will usually pass, its only a visual inspection.
leave it where it is poppycat,i very much doubt you will win this....work permit granted!0 -
I think its more about the fact that all too often people take time to respond and the OP (not just poppycat) never bothers to post an eventual outcome so that we call all share and learn from the experiences (good or bad).I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)

I haven't read all the posts but Poppy stated the car was defective. I don't see how the car can be defective if it had working brakes.
The brake pipes may have been in an acceptable condition when the car was sold but deteriorated to a point where they fail the MOT.
It's really down to the buyer to check the car thoroughly before parting with cash.
Complaining that a 7 year old car needs work done is amazing and i'm both surprised and disappointed that consumer advice have told her she has a case.
