Code, it was me with the blanket folding! Afraid I havn't mastered folding the oblong ones either. I fold some in a straight line and wrap around and overlap at the side (front) and fasten with a bow or I fold a bit of each side to make it square and try that way but it's not very good. You usually end up getting a thicker bit of blanket somewhere..

Oops im sorry moonpenny my head was elsewhere and i should of double checked. Least one of us is on the ball :rotfl:

    hiya ladies,

sorry i haven't been a very good member of this forum i seem to have been very busy with nothing to show for my efforts!

i have only been making nappy cakes as favours for friends oly really charging cost price with at most £5 added on for my time and any extras i hadn't added in.

i recently made 2 cakes for my cousins wife and he boss who owns a chain of chemist shops has asked to meet with me on saturday and for me to take along a cake as he would like me to make cakes for him to sell in his shops! eek!

so i was wondering what extras do you include in your cakes and what prices do you charge - should there be anything that i ask on sat or have sorted out before we do a deal? i don't really want to have my own business but would i t be easier to set one up rather than be an employee of the chemists?

to give you an idea i normally make 3 tier cakes with huggies nappies, 500ml bottle of johnsons baby wash, blanket, muslin, vest, bib, scratch mits, 2 pairs of socks, baby grow, hat, dummy, teddy or shoes, and sell it for £18 -£20 - my cousin didn't tell her boss what she paid and as i hide most of it inside the cakes if i put in less you couldn't tell.

the extra money would come handy and i'm not expecting it to be a huge amount but every little helps.

anyoe got any hints or tips for me? i need to go shoppig for ingredients but to me the draw is that every cake is unique as i normally stock up when i see something on offer so no 2 cakes are the same really - should i be thinking about making them all the same as in same blanket same toy etc?

thanks for any replies i am completely overwhelmed with thoughts going thru my head about this - i only started it as a hobby!

I sold my first cake today so im happy! I make a rubbish business woman though as im doing it for cost price plus a donation to charity.

I have 2 questions, the first is how much do you charge for a baby vest? Again not for profit just for how much it will cost me to replace it (I brought it from littlewoods on one of their offers).

The second is the cake im doing for my mum just doesnt look right. I would like to have a go at doing a chair but really dont know how. Does anyone have any instructions on how to do them please?

One more question has anyone ever used the piglit blanket from asda? Its that which is causing me a nightmare on folding!

    Thanks :)

This is how i do it [thanks to bellag and few others for tips]
*I take one sock and fold in half long ways and roll from toe to top
*Take the second sock and lay flat
    * place the first rolled sock at the toe and roll up to 3/4 sock and use the remaining 1/4 sock to turn up around the two socks to secure.

    Make any sense:confused:

Id be grateful if someone could help me with vest ice creams . tia

Welcome back Becs! Gorgeous cake!!! (Miffy label is upside down on pic)
Although we all do much of the same (in our own style!) it's still nice to see the pics.

Kim_Possible - I watch apprentice too and was dissapointed. Thought we might have got a glipse at some of the stalls. Has anyone been to the big Baby exhib at Earls Court?
