Chatty - that blanket is gorgeous - I think Rusty's idea of taking a spare empty suitcase might not be such a bad idea :rotfl: you'll end up wanting to buy loads you know you will !

Juju - thankyou - I was just going to do it all pink but then when I got everything out and the blanket pattern was 'cupcakes' in pink & blue I thought I'd give it a go to use the two colours for the ribbons and I really like it - just hope my friend does! Hopefully will wrap it with cellaphane later! Have got the choice of two - one with tiny pink flowers on it or one with pink dots - think I'll go for the dotty one! Just need to pop out and get some double-sided tape & pink pull ribbons and its done!

well apart from the ingredients card...

Hiya - sorry haven't fully caught up myself yet - fab cakes though everyone!! Just a quickie from me too - please can you let me know how you all secure your ribbons at the back? I have just made up my first 'real' cake and the ribbons are driving me a bit demented!!

will post photo once I've sorted out the ribbons - its the florist ribbons that doesn't seem to want to stick no matter what I use!!!

    TIA

I use florist ribbon and a hot glue gun:wink:

I want to put them on a bottom layer of a cake on top of the nappies with some fake leaves a bit like Nicky321 did a few pages back.

I just roll the socks into flower roses then tuck them inside the nappies, between the nappies or between the nappies and blanket. Also I make sure each fake leaf has a good length of stem so i can push them into the nappy too. Mine havent tended to move yet.

    Hi Nicky

Thanks for your help with this. I will take a deep breath and try again. Getting in a right pickle with the green florist tape so will abandon that way of doing it.

Also ladies, Sainsbury's have a third off nappies and baby toiletries at the moment (not sure if already posted yet)

Thanks Julie will try that, I never thought going there  you wouldn't believe how many times I have walked past that shop this week.
I had looked in the party shops but didn't really see anything small enough.

Yeh, best of luck for the cowboy theme?

Out of interest, WHY a cowboy theme? lol
There are members of some sort of 'country and western theme group thingy' ... lol.
They thought it would be something different to donate to the raffle.

When I moved back from Spain in Nov, (along with all my squashed 'nappy cakes'in the roof box :D ), they saw them all and were really impressed with them.
Luckily for me, they both had daughters due a baby in the December, and they were over the moon with them.
It is so nice to have a 'bloke' praise them up so much.
They've been great really, been telling everyone about them, and have a few orders from it.
At the end of the day, I suppose it's more advertising for me, so I should really get on with it.

Can anyone suggest a way to keep sock roses attached to a cake? I haven't wrapped them with the green floristy tape or anything but I could it that would help. I want to put them on a bottom layer of a cake on top of the nappies with some fake leaves a bit like Nicky321 did a few pages back. I'm worried that if I don't attach them to the cake somehow they will wobble and fall off once cellophaned.
After rolling the socks, I place a clear hair band around the bottom to hold it secure, and slip two leaves under the band, and then wedge them inbetween the nappies.

:rotfl: You could just pack a smaller suitcase inside a bigger one then you have a whole empty case when you get there ;)

Ah well you see we go every year and always shop so we ditched the suitcases long ago for lightweight holdalls.. we are allowed 2 pieces of luggage each but as we take bicycles with us (I know we're crazy) they count as one piece. so we travel light going out, but veeeeeeeeery heavy on the return..trouble is this year I have been looking at all the cutie baby stuff and not the usual clothes. even with the bad exchange rate there are still some bargains. but mainly cos they are different than here.
and it so happens we (sorry I) am thinking we may pass most of these shops when we go out cycling. And my excuse to hubby will be that we need to get out of the sun for a while into a nice air conditioned shop
do you think that will work
