Thankyou for all the replies. It was my first time using the coloured florist ribbon but I actually like it which I wasn't sure I would to start with. I can't believe how different it all looks with just simple tweaks. I have pink ribbon aswell but will probably have to stick to ivory for my neutral cakes and then use the lemon gingham. I wanted to give spotty a try but I know Shelley uses spotty on hers and didn't want to copy the spotty I think definately works really well. :)
Hey, I use gingham too, did I copy you or you copy me ???? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Only joking, we must of gone gingham ribbon shopping on the same day, I can remember us both posting our first gingham cakes at the same time too!!! (great minds think alike:D )
I much prefer the blue florist ribbon to your previous cream ones ..... what shade of blue are you using?
I use 'Ice Blue', which I think helps to tie up the different shades of blues brilliantly, especially with the blue Ellie's being more turquoise.

I keep hoping that one day I'll turn up and they'll have a beige or brown gingham available.
I did get excited the one day, but then realised the ribbon was in fact burgundy and not brown
A creative mess is better than tidy idleness :D

Rusty, I love your new look cakes. They look much nicer with co-ordinating ribbon!
I too, use Gingham Ribbon and Spotty Ribbon and anything else that works!!!!

Irlrip, Your cake is lovely. What a fab blanket! I am having trouble at moment finding “cheaper” blankets to go on small cakes. I don’t know if it’s cos summers coming and they have stopped stocking them.

Chatty123 – Your Keepsake Boxes are really nice. Can I be cheeky and ask where you got them from and how much?

CandyB – They do make brown Gingham Ribbon. I ordered ribbons last wk and saw it. Will have to have a look again at which website it was on if you want to know.

JoJo_sapphire – your cake is gorgeous! Well Done1

  • well done ladies, you have all been working so hard, its lovely to see you are putting your creations to use!

I have been focusing on setting up my jewellery website and making stock for a jewellery party and craft fayre that I am doing.

But I have been asked by a friend to make a couple of nappy cakes. One of them is a twin boy/girl one which I am looking forward to. Any tips?

Hey ladies, where would you reccomend getting cheap blankets / towels for the bottom teir?

Ive always used the hooded ones with a pattern on but couldnt get it last night and went for fleecy blanket from Asda, and I actually like it!!

Plus where do you get your greenery for the sock roses?

  • Hi everyone,

Havent posted for ages but I do read the threads regularly. Just wanted to say how lovely all your nappy cakes are and the treasure boxes are fab - what a unique gift for a christening. Can I please ask you where you got the boxes from chatty123.

I made up a couple of cakes for friends but they are nowhere near as good as all yours so I will have to keep practising lol and will try and do some treasure boxes as I have a lot of scrapbooking/card stuff to use.

    Keep up the good work
