Me too. I tried to do a leaflet but it ended up 3 sheets A4.
Nicky321, Have you tried using 'Microsoft Publisher'?
They have some great templates to choose from.

I've picked them up many times, um-ing and ar-ing whether to buy them or not, such a good price and they look fab on your cakes.

How do you make your sock roses look so great

I followed a tutorial i found on the web, it was pretty easy, just overlap the heels on the two little socks slightly and roll them from the toes to the ankles, starting tightly and going looser.

  • Hiya all,

Heres my latist Nappy Cake, i have made it for a close friend so have gone all out on it. Its Packed with goodies! It has a bee theme as she has nick named her bump 'bee'. I've not wrapped it yet as my mum is knitting some yellow & black stripe booties.
I'm also going to make a 'Big Sister' cake for my friends 4year old daughter so she doesnt feel left out :-)

Before i sign myself up to a £40 craft fair i'm tempted to try a local car boot sale, has anyone else done this? was it successful?

    Thanks

    It's gorgeous.

I have been asked to do a Winnie the Pooh cake for next month. I searched high and low for bumble bees and eventually found some yesterday at a florist suppliers. I hope it looks as good as yours.

Jojo_saphire, Your cake is just so beeeeutiful!!! Sorry about that, couldn't resist! The bootees sound fab.
I havn't done a stall yet but I don't think I would do a car boot sale as I think people are looking for really cheap stuff. Might be O.K. for small cakes etc - but hey! what do I know, might be a roaring success!

Rusty, I noticed in your picture that you roll your nappies as they come. I open mine up to roll them. Does anyone else open them? I saw it on a U.S. site and been doing them that way ever since. (Don't swirl anymore either)

Rusty - see how you have the nappies in the middle?
how do you do them like that :o

Roll up 1 single nappy, then put a band on it(only if you can't hold it in place) then add another one where the first finishes, then a third where the second finishes til you have 5 nappies if that makes sense? my last handful of cakes I started to use the swirling method but I am seriously considering going back to my old way :)

Thanks for that Rusty :D I keep picking up the size 3's and putting them back. Couldn't really see through the packaging and always thought that once I got them home, I could guarantee they'd be peach and green!!

Cheers for the tutorial piccie, I must of missed that. Now I understand why I can never get my cakes so round with using as fewer nappies as you ..... swirling in the middle .....

Candy I use the ones in the green and blue box not the ones in the red box/packs the ones in the red packs are more of a new baby nappy if that makes sense they only come in size 1,2 and 3 :) not sure what colour they are so be careful ;)

I didn't do the tutorial on the thread, I emailed it to Saveapenny as she asked me if I could do a simple to follow tutorial. I should still have it if you want me to email it across :)

Oooh interesting, I didn't think to open them up to roll them? I presume it would make them slightly fatter? or is this not the case? how many nappies do you use in your layers? i.e top, middle and bottom? I might have to give it a go :)
