Hi lrlrip,
They were selling packs of 2 baby sponges in my local 'savers' store, pinks, blue and green.
I'm pretty sure they were around 55p.
Don't have a "Savers" but managed to get a blue one at my local chemist.
Keep you fingers crossed for me as I am showing off my two finished cakes tonight for the first time. Just to a couple of people but have to start somewhere.0 -
Does anyone on here make the nappy cakes shaped like prams? They look amazing but I wouldn't have a clue where to start!
Also, am I allowed to post my website on here? Its up and running now and I would love to get some feedback!

Ordered some of these yesterday (thanks OP!) and some photo albums - just had a phone call to say they have been discontinued and I will be getting a refund! How annoying! The hunt for cheap teddies continues!!
would love to see your website too - could you pm me details please?0 -
My daughter came to visit and made a Nappy Cake for her friend who has just had a baby.
It was the first attempt so I jokingly said well we have all the Ingredients, Just hope that it rises to the occasion and doesn't flop in the middle.
I had a Roses tin (empty of course) from Xmas and she decided that the swirl method would be easier than having to roll up individual nappies.
She really enjoyed doing it. We got it all wrapped up in cellophane and off she took it home. I then realised we had completely forgotten about putting ribbon round the layers and I have about 4 different rolls of 'Its a boy' and 'Its a girl Ribbon .. I asked if she wanted to take the wrapping off and put the ribbon' on but I think she may leave well alone and put it on the next one lol.
Pic of front and back and of little helper (Grandson)
Thanks everyone for all you ideas. Just hope the new mother likes it (with or without the ribbon) lol0 -
I have just rushed to make this as I have someone wanting to see it tonight.
I still have to put on the ribbon and wrap it up.0 -
