I just made my first nappy cake with instructions & advice from this site, I hope I can attach the photo for you to see.
I used a 72 pack of size 3 (pampers - not great as had a blue pattern I didn't realise until I opened them!) some still left. Used a cardboard tube up the middle to hold it all together. Added a fleece blanket around the bottom tier, 2 babygros around the middle, & a hat over the top tier (which luckily was the perfect size!) Added a few more bits & bobs folded to fit in the cake (removed a rolled nappy if necessary to make room) - leggings, a couple of tops, shoes, the mittens that came with the hat. Attached the monkey to the top with a nappy pin, & tied up with wired ribbon, before wrapping in cellophane (that was the trickiest bit!) I made most of it in the cream colour a while ago to make it unisex, then bought a few last bits in a more girly colour to finish it off. I had loads of fun making it, now need another baby to make my second one for......0 -

Thanks Rusty for your help with photos. I use Int exp, I will have a dabble later on to see if I can get it to work.
Thanks everyone for your comments on my cakes! I’m glad you liked the colourful one as I wasn’t sure about it I got the toys from Asda and ended up paying just £1.60 each. (3 for 2) They make funny noises when dropped on the floor and I thought I had made a mistake buying them, but at that price!!!!!
Irlrip – I use approx 35-36 Pampers size 2 Nappies in a 3 tier. 20 on Bottom layer, 10 middle and 6 top tier on a 12 inch board. Each tier stands about 4 inch high but I think they look taller because the bottom blanket stands taller than the nappies and also the sleepsuit. I think my top tier is fatter than a lot of others and although I only use 6 nappies, I have a rolled sleepsuit at the front and a rolled bib at the back.
Shelley – I would love to do a “twin” cake. Did you have a design in mind beforehand or just making it up as you go along?
Meanmum – would love to see your cake!
Where is everybody? Busy making cakes or still caught up in the aftermath of Christmas?

Hi Moonpenny long time no speak lol :rotfl: I think everyone is recovering like you said from Christmas.
I've had a few glasses of wine so apologise if i make any mistakes.
As its quite short notice for the twins cake i think i may stick to the same designs as i always do and just double up on the blankets, sleepsuits and put two teddies on top. Thats the plan anyway but it may change!!!!:rotfl:Little Miss Chatterbox

I'm here aswell, nice to see you all back, Is becs still stuck in her big room full of nappies and posh clothes or has she made it back to us safely?
Shelley I saw a lovely cake on ebay a while ago for twins, I'm not sure what colour cake you are making but this was for one of each and they had literally half a cake in blue and half in pink, it must have been fairly awkward but looked amazing, I guess it was just down to how the blankets were folded etc etc.
I've had no orders as yet but they have no advertising at the minute either as I have been so caught up with christmasRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Great to see everyone back :j :j
Thanks Rusty I think I saw a cake similar to one you described and it was lovely . The cake i've got to make is for twin boys so probably will be easier to make for a first one (well i hope). I'll see how it goes and post a pic. Probably won't be making it until weekend.
Bellag good news on the orders :TLittle Miss Chatterbox

Hi everyone,
Welcome to the newbies. Fab cakes everyone too, I love your brightcoloured one Moonpenny.
I am back, we went up to my brother's in Scotland for Christmas and it was lovely to spend it with my nephews. Not been on here much as been feeling sorry for myself. Need to get a grip and get on with things. We've been trying for a baby for a while and I guess the nappy cakes kept my mind occupied for a bit but now it's getting harder.
RF how are things with you?
rjh090384 can you jazz up the neutral bits you have with bright ribbons and a bright coloured toy?0
