Fraud withdrawal £470 Halifax refuse to help.

Hi guys , am after some help regarding an Occident that occurred early hours this morning .. Somebody had made 3 ATM withdrawels from my account
£250
£200
£20
Total of £470
And they left £40 in . (I think they reached the max £500 )
now this is very unuseal for me to to make such withdraeks since opening my Halifax account I think the most I've ever withdrawn was about £120 as I don't like walking around lots of money for security purposes.
I attended an ATM early hours this morning by my self , it was dark and I was out drinking but I was not drunk as I had obky 2 bottled beers of Budweiser.
I withdraw £40 . and then a guy came up behind my and was talking about clubs and bars trying to sell me tickets . I wasn't interested and walked away. I noticed he was at the cash machine after me but thought nothing of it.
I didn't need anymore money out that night and I thought I had my bank card in my jeanspocket. I got home about 3am. Still thinking nothing of it .
I woke up this morning unable to find my bank card , I logged onto my banking app and noticed only £40 was available. I was shocked as I knew I had not spent all this money. Looking through my transactions I could see the above 3 and immediately knew my card had been stolen .
I usually sheild my PIN when using it, however I have a couple of occasions not done this. I have no ides if I shielded my PIN at that time but I think I did .
After phoning up the bank to explain what had happened , they responcded with their is nothing they can do as they cannot be sure it was someone else who withdrawn my money ..
I currently on a 3 days course in Sheffield which is 80 miles away from werr i live and this is my last night..
I feel heartbroken as I am shocked this has happened to me and its my first time. I am also shocked Halifax refuse to offer any kind of help at all and think it was me who had withdrawn the money .
The Cash machine used to withdraw my money was quite a walk away too, surely Halifax should of blocked this as it is "unusual behaviour" on my card especially 80 miles away from home ?
Is their anything I can do to try and fight this ?
Thanks all
Craig

Have the fraudulent withdrawals taken you overdrawn?0 -
Sounds like you left your card in the machine and when you walked away the other chap tapped the buttons for 'further transactions'.
If I'm right, then I'm sorry but you have no comeback.
Have you now cancelled the card?0 -
Sorry, just to clarify the Card was used at a different ATM so their is no chance of leaving the card in the machine .
I am not suggesting that all transactions should be blocked , however it should raise suspicion and a one off security check would pass this.... . I Have never emptied my bank account before like this . it is very unusual .
After another call to Halifax I have found out:
The pin code was not entered incorrectly
He withdraw £250
He then withdrew £200
He then attempted £100 that was declined
He then did a balance enquiry
He then attempted £60 that was declined
He then withdraw £20.
Even the process above doesn't seem right. It should of been picked up , I have never in my life withdrawn more than £150 in any one day .
I have lodged a complaint to Halifax and they are going to get back to me within 5 days . hopefully I can get sonthing back ...
Thanks

What's the daily cash withdrawal limit of your debit card? Most cards go up to either £250 or £300, very few cards have a £500 limit. There might be occasionally limits in excess of £500, but only for people who request it and who can demonstrate to their bank that they have a need for this facility.
Your account allowed withdrawals in excess of £500 in a single day. If one lot was taken before midnight and the rest after, it would have been two days.0 -

Is your account overdrawn, and if so how much by?0 -
I queryed the daily limit too.all my previous cards are £250 . I have never asked for an increase Halifax said its standard 500
time of each transaction was on same day/morning at 2:47 , 2:47 and 2:48
I did receive my withdrawal however I do apologize it was not £40 it wasin fact £25. That adds the total of
250 + 200 + 20 and (my 25) of £495 . and normally with a daily limit of 500 you cannot get fivers out so he took everything he could .0 -
Entire post is bullsh*t, which is why you're not being refunded.

Really? Because I have a £500 limit with Lloyds, and even Halifax state a £500 limit on their website.

There can be exceptions to a standard. And you're exceptionally silly.
