Nothing wrong with the responses on page 1, did the OP even say they didn't like the responses.0

All of you can be distracted and confused at all stages of your lives, whether it be through dehydration, illness, general only average awareness of risk; most of course having left charmed lives so far so having no "lesson learned" to fall back upon; and yes even having just a couple of bottles of beer which might not put most people over the driving limit; and so all will be more and more before at risk before you die. It is a security flaw unfortunately built into a human brain and there is little you can do about it, no matter how superior and clever you believe yourselves to be.0

I'd suggest that the lack of similar bizarre outbursts would imply that the majority of posters have minds that work in fairly conventional ways, or at least that they abstain from the powerful hallucinogens that would appear to have inspired your rambling rant....0

Would you care to explain why and how you know about the relationship of the majority of the posters and the workings of their respective own minds? I can't speak for others but wouldn't be surprised if they, like me, can assure you that you know absolutely nothing about the posters' knowledge about the workings of their own mind. Not that it would be any of your business.

A couple of weeks ago I came out of a supermarket car park in Europe which interestingly had the entrance and exit next to each other separated only by a white line, but (and this is the interesting bit) the exit lane was on the left and the entrance lane on the right (as you approach the exit). Vice versa on entering. You might note that is what might be expected in UK.
I was driving a familiar left hand drive car. I exited and started driving down the single carriageway road on the wrong side - courtesy of my subconcious motor skills!
My subconcious had been distracted by a familiar scenario and as is the case for the large part of the routine steering and braking, clutch-dipping and gear changing in most very experienced drivers, it took over from my concious self, and my conscious let it because I had not registered the inconsistent entrance/exit layout as any inconsistency at all. It didn't go wrong for any reason associated with idiocy.
For years I have regularly driven thousands of miles in Europe and in UK and, touchwood, my later years at the wheel seem to see me as a less accident prone driver than in earlier years when I was often stressed to reach appointments on time - before the age of the mobile phone when I could call in good time and say I'd be a few minutes late!
My guess is that if the OP did leave his card in the ATM, or failed to notice his pocket being picked and his PIN being watched over his shoulder, it was because he was being distracted with an unsolicited sales pitch demanding his conscious attention, causing his subconcious to take over mid operation at the ATM e.g. PIN in, amount selected, money out, have I got my money ? Yes I have ...His conscious had been suddenly engaged with deciding how to say no to the clubs and tickets man, instead of making sure all the ATM shutdown checks were complete:p
His subconcious wasn't used to being left solely in charge at the ATM, so quite likely failed to complete one or more of the other safety checks e.g. am I being watched, and have I got my card and is both it and my money, plus the receipt, now safely in my wallet deep in my safest pocket? The encounter was designed to distract all but the most astutely suspicious from using the ATM safely, and it probably did.
Pilots for example are one group who are very aware of the role of such Human Factors in quite basic failures and mistakes, and the catalysts e.g. even small amounts of alcohol, onset of illness or food poisoning, tiredness, or cockpit mental overload, that make errors more likely. As a group they are generally far more aware of the workings and foibles of their own minds and each others (even when they do not know their co-pilot from one day to the next) than most others.
You did ask, and as for Shakin Steve's last little ditty, he would not need to lower himself to most pilots' levels to discuss this - they are usually not idiots and they spend a lot of time operating above our level!

Please can I remind you all that this is a public forum and to be nice to each other, we all are entitled to our views and opinions whether of not we agree with them.
I am going to close this thread, for two reasons firstly its a year old thread and the OP hasn't been back to update and secondly to stop the thread from escalating off topic.
