Car accident claiming back costs

Hi I'm wondering if anyone can help me.

We had a car crash on the way to see the cure last December. A car drifted into our lane and forced us off the road and our car was a write off ending up on the other carriageway. Anyway, my husband claimed some costs back they his legal cover. But he is unable to claim the gig tix as they were in my name (thru stubhub and seatwave). They total almost £250.

I also missed a concert the following weekend at a cost of £100 as I was too traumarised mentally to drive from Cornwall to Liverpool for it.

Is there any way I can claim these back? Apparently the legal cover covered us both but all I am being offered at the mo rather forcefully is personsl accident stuff...

Thank u in advance of any ideas.

I meant to say the driver who drifted admitted liability. It's all been sorted with car layout etc.
  • You could try a claim via your legal cover, but I seriously doubt you'll get anywhere. Probably best just to move on.

And for those of us who don't speak 'street', I'll just mention it took me about three or four readings of that to work out that 'gig tix' wasn't a typo but actually meant 'concert tickets'.

Take the personal injury money, and use some of that to cover the concert tickets - I know it's not seen as morally correct by some, but it's what I'd do for minimal fuss.

That's because it's not his loss to claim, it's yours.

You have a civil claim against the other driver for loss of the tickets, but you would need to bring that case not your husband.

You may have a claim for the tickets for the event you were on your way to, if you can prove that it was impossible to continue your journey via any alternative mode of transport.

You do not have a claim for the tickets for the following weekend - you chose not to travel to that, via any form of transport.

Thank you for the information on this.
I do not wish to pursue an injury claim, despite the fact that i feel the companies are very keen for me to. I just want my costs returned - these were my ultimate favourite band and i am just hugely gutted i did not make it. We were not recovered until 3pm that day (despite the accident occurring at 9am) so no chance we could have made the gig as were will 280 miles away at that time!

Avoided the alleged 'street' talk this time :p

I will try a route such as you guys have suggested. Thank you.

How would I go about bringing a civil claim please?

What time did the concert start?
Could you not have got a taxi to a hire car office or railway station?
Did you HAVE to wait with the car?

we were in the middle of nowhere (bodmin moor basically) and were told by police to stay with car - as did they til about 1pm
