O/S Daily Wednesday 31 May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning, thank you for starting today's thread judi.

I am about to have some toast and get off for an early start at work. I'm tired after another poor night so I'd prefer to start and finish early if I can.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible today.

    Morning all,

Woohoo. Another night where I was able to sleep through. Little hound didn't get me up and hubby was settled. Good job I didn't have to get up with her as the last time I did apparently I left the door open all night.

Talking about little hound. Seems like her 'dry eye's has spread to the other eye now. It's rubbish getting old.:(

Need to make a few phone calls today and NAR, if your reading, your help was invaluable yesterday. That's one less thing I have to worry about.

Not got my Grandson today, I've got him tomorrow instead.

Hubby picks up his new car tonight. Hopefully this one will be more comfortable for him.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

Thanks for starting us off Judi.

I've been up and at it since 0500. Sod's law - I can now have a lie-in and DH decides that he needs to start studying in the morning. Oh well. I can always snooze this afternoon.

Managed to sleep properly for the first time in a week. It's such a weight off my mind. I did the right thing as my licence to practice was at risk. But its scary.

I'm going to try and stay in a proper routine while enjoying some extra time to think. Off to the gym shortly, then I might try Yoga, or I'll come back and polish my CV. BGas are coming this afternoon so hopefully we can turn the hot water back on after that.

Decisions, decisions. Do I attack the garden? Or the passageway? I think if the weather holds I'll start in the garden. DH is out tonight so I can always do the passageway later.

Have a great day everyone. Many thanks for all the support - I confined myself to Rhubarb Crumble and Ice Cream last night. Back to healthy eating today.

    Morning everyone

Judi - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dry, bright, sunny and warm here.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, but will wake him shortly. Washing ready to go out on the line, and I'll water the greenhouse and garden whilst I'm outside before leaving for work.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, DH then had banana and custard for dessert - up until now he's always said he doesn't like bananas and I've never served banana custard to him - sometimes he just moans for the sake of moaning I think! Well yesterday it didn't get him very far as I've decided to be much more laid back (although I am quite laid back compared to other people) - so I'm just going to go with the flow, and not react - have just got to the point where I really can't be bothered. I will just potter along.

Tonight dinner will be roast chicken portions, mash, veg and gravy - I really fancy it, but will probably change my mind later if it gets too hot! I feel the need for some veg etc.

Work yesterday was busy but not horrific, today I'm working on my own in an office doing a different job, I don't mind that, so that will be the end of my working week as I'm then on days' off until Monday. I'm working my way through the washing mountain, I'll put another load in this morning before I leave for work.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Nice and bright this morning, towels will go out in a minute. DW and bins emptied, must remember to put the wheelie bin out tonight - I put a quilt in it last week that I think got stuck so the bin wasn't emptied. Took the quilt to the tip.

Went to bed early but read for ages, didn't need the lamp on until about 10 it was such a bright evening.

Hope you are all well, hugs to karcher and FBO. Take care. XX

Glad you are feeling more positive FBO.

Hugs to all those in need.

I'm going to load up the car and drive to the boat as soon as I've dropped CHS at work, I'll get stuff sorted on there for an hour then come back and load up the car again with stuff for the CS.
I need to get this sorted and I'm feeling in the mood to do it today.
That may all chance when CHS gets up and decides on a different plan!

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone.

Today is forecast to be rain free, my fingers are crossed. I'm teaching this morning and the students are finishing off all their work (for five tutors) so all should be quiet.

I was just settling down to GBM last night when one of my lovely neighbours turned up with a trailer load of freshly cut wood for me. He spent over an hour rearranging the big barn, putting up pallets as walls and sorting everything into 'sheds'. I hope I remember the seasoned from the unseasoned stuff come the autumn. A second load is coming later this week. I'll be stocked up for at least two or three winters as I don't use much.

My car is being valeted this morning whilst I'm at work (second time lucky) so I've emptied all the junk from it and am apalled by the mess of it, coffee spills and stones and dust. I'm looking forward to a clean car interior.

FBO - you deserve a day of relaxation for once.

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Good morning all and a nice bright start to the day this morning. I have a hospital appointment at the audiology dept this morning,it gets quite crowded so I will take my book and a bottle of water.Than round to DDs afterwards as its her day off and I said I would go for a cuppa and a natter. She is taking her little dog ted for a haircut this morning He gets very hot as he has quite a thick coat and the vet says its a good idea to keep him cooler in the warm weather.Tomorrow is DGS Mikeys' thirteenth birthday ,can't believe how quickly the time has flown by.His next brother up Henry has his 16th this Saturday, so its a busy week all round
Hope everyone has a good day and the sun shines down on you all

<<Hugs to Nelski and all in need>>

    Cheers chums

Miss and mr are off to Bristol this afternoon, they'll be eating a mountain of food - at Grillstock, if she gets her way, lol - then they're going to SWX to see Vintage Trouble tonight. Fab day out for them, fab peaceful day in for me :D

I need to find a basket or a nice box for my sewing stuff, it's in a drawer at the moment but I want to move it. I have some scrap paper to shred, that's in a drawer too. The drawers are just wooden boxes that slide in under a tabletop (it's actually a large kitchen trolley), there are no runners or anything so they could be used as boxes on a shelf once they've been sanded and painted. Not sure what to do with them yet. I haven't actually got room for the trolley but I like it so am trying to find ways to make it useful and pretty :D

I have a few little jobs to do that I've been putting off. I need to fill a few holes in the walls where I've moved pictures and sort the stuff that has mounted up on the bedroom shelves. I have a collection of little things that I've put there to sort later and it's got a bit out of hand, lol. I'll put them in a big box, bring them down to the kitchen and sort from there. I'm sure I'll have an empty shelf in the bedroom when I've tidied the unit properly.

Not much else planned for the day – just chocolate :D
