Mellicks is the name of the firm

They do it on a no win/no fee basis. They use ATE (After the event) funding so they just throw cheap people at it and pocket a large chunk of the money.

Same as BW Legal in England and Wales.

Just received this response from the citizens advice.

"As you are the registered keeper of the car you are the one who is liable for the parking tickets. If someone else was driving the car on any of these days you would need to provide evidence to show that you were not the one driving the car. If you are parked in a car park with pay and display in force you will need to pay any fines that occur while parking in the car park. This type of fine is legally enforceable and does not come under the parking on private land section."

Can anyone provide any insight into this? Not the response I was expecting.

CAB are clueless in parking matters. Even more so about the difference between Scottish laws and English laws. The are talking drivel.

The CAB are a waste of space and should not be giving out info
    about private parking companies

Tell them to come here, start a new thread and we will guide
them through the facts .... not fiction

Absolutely diabolical, you need to complain about that wrong advice. A Horizon PCN is clearly a charge on private land, and the fact it was P&D makes no difference at all. The CAB are hopelessly wrong. Which branch?

However I am still concerned that this appear to be a driver who has been parking for free and actually the cause of the *success* of this industry. We help victims of PPC scams and we hardly see any cases where people are selfish enough to park without paying and displaying, lots of times, again and again, so I hope it's not a deliberate series of fly parking. It would be hard to support if that's what's happened.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
