10,000 a year, my commute to work is 9ish miles each way
So if that was the only journey you ever made, your engine would never warm up. You would never acheive the claimed MPG (not the extra-urban one anyway, which is conducted on a warm engine), and your DPF (diesel particulate filter) will clog up with soot, because you don't go far/fast enough for a burn-off to occur.0 -

I have a journey very much like yours, 45 mins to an hour, 15 miles, so as you can see it's quite stop/start. I have a 7 seater diesel so fairly heavy, but the engine is 1.4. I always get over 50mpg over a tank full.
Long distance driving I get over 60mpg.

The same '07 Grand Scenic you've mentioned previously?
Don't think they made a 1.4 - are you sure it's not a 1.5dCi? At that age, it may not even have a DPF, many early 1.5dCi models did not IIRC.
If it doesn't have a DPF, then it's not a problem - posters here are warning the OP off diesels for short runs mainly because of costly problems running modern (OP is looking at much newer cars) diesels for that journey profile. Economy isn't much to do with that.
You've complained a few times about the costly issues your Renault needs resolving, so putting economy aside, is it such a good deal?0 -

Get the petrol, its more refined.
With the vehicles listed above, at 10,000 miles a year the saving on fuel is minimal.0
