thriftylass wrote: ». Also started the 4:3 eating plan. I won't call it a diet as I'm not using it to loose weight but for the health benefits and it might save some money too on silly snacks etc. Today is my first fast day (500kcal) and I have planned a super yummy healthy dinner to look fwd to. I'll see how I get on with it. Anyone else tried it? It's meant to be good to loose fat if needed but keep the muscle, lower cholesterol etc etc and seems to be based on the prehistoric way of eating when food wasn't available all day long/every day.
I have done 5:2 and it really did work - you do need to be 100% focused with it though.
I lost nearly a stone on it and then fell off the wagon a bit and can't seem to get back into it.
I think if I liked black tea and coffee I would be ok as that helps to fill you up in the day time but I only drink soya milk so most of my calories were used up with soya coffee throughout the day.
I have also tried the caveman diet which is where you eat nothing until the evening but you take in all your calories in a few hours. The idea being that you then fast for 22 hours before your next meal which is supposed to help the metabolism.
Good luck with the eating plan:T0 -
Managed another NSD today as only got petrol.
The weather is rather wet and windy, I got caught in a downpour while walking the dogs but it was nice to come home, get undressed and put on PJ's to warm up.0 -
Today's word to ponder is:Sabotage
One of its definitions is 'to intentionally prevent the success of a plan or action'.
So, turtles, how do you personally sabotage your own plans for success? Do you lose an NSD to something you did not need, or could have waited for? Do you plan ahead as regards food shopping to avoid needing top-up shops? An NSD target of 15 means that you can spend on alternate days in June - do you need to spend every day?
And what can we do to stop it happening so often in the future? NSK always told us to plan, plan, plan! Or, for every obstacle that gets in your way, find 2 alternatives, so that next time you come across it, you have your escape plan and don't get sucked in.
I'm not asking you to 'fess up to anything, simply to consider it.

Today I am grateful for being able to dry off at work after arriving in a very soggy condition, for a good day at work, for the respect shown by the pupils at 11am, for plenty of walking, for being able to do a workout, for soup for tea, for extra time with dd as brownies was cancelled, for rationing my knitting and sewing so that my hands don't get too bad to continue doing it, for a tremendous rainbow, for my big sister.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

First day went ok. Kept going with tea (herbal mostly and one black) but probably a few too many calories in my HM chicken chow mein. Decent start though.
Had the cat (17) at the vet and we think it's a tumor in her face. She hasn't changed much in behaviour though which is good. We'll get a biopsy done on Friday and then just whatever preserves her quality of life. Sad to see but happy that she doesn't seem to be suffering atm.

A NSD for yesterday but not today as I have just succumbed to pudding and chips. I had taken bags of food and water to mum's but food ran out at 3pm - still had bananas and apples but had had my ration of 3 bananas already.
Just got home having left before 1pm yesterday. Hope carting mum around the hospital in a wheelchair counts as exercise. It was load bearing as I had her handbag and mine, both our coats plus the rucksack full of water to cary most of the day. Mum's oxygen level was low so they had to do the procedure with local anaesthetic and we stayed an extra hour because of concerns about oxygen too. Taxi delivered us back to hers at 7.30pm.
I stayed over even though she hadn't had sedation as she was tired (but very pleased the hospital fed her) and feeling weak. We had an early night and a late morning. Mum has dozed/ slept for most of today and I did sewing to make up my hours (nearly 12 hours today) as it all starts again at 1.30pm tomorrow - same hospital, different procedure. May not have to stay tomorrow night but have shopping for mum to do in the morning, as well as apologising for a couple of things I will/ might miss - other people will be around on thursday so I might escape for a while.
Today I am grateful for the consultant who was kind and has arranged these tests promptly, that the drip antibiotics (and possibly yesterday's treatment) have made mum much brighter and that planning ahead worked for most of the time. Going to have a bath and another early night. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Sorry to hear about your cat thrifty but wow that she is 17!
SFD todayMaking it to 3 in total. I went to a training event tonight which I'll get paid for so that is good
The weather has been awful but great the the plants. Unfortunately, the fence panel to next door has now split and definitely needs replacing. Next door said he'd do it and paybut that was a few weeks ago and I haven't seen him since (he's renovating the house and doesn't live there). I'll keep my fingers crossed that he is there this weekend (he's also very east on the eye so it'll be doubly nice if he is there this weekend!)

I try to be really good and plan my spending days, and order my shopping weekly, but my biggest downfall is forgetting stuff for the shopping. Then I pop to the shops to get a few bits and more often than not will buy something I didn't need!
Today hasn't been a NSD. I had a chiropractor appointment (already paid for) but had to pay for parking, which was £3.75. I'll be taking it easy because of the chiropractor so no exercise today either, but back on the wagon again tomorrow.0 -

Easier said that done. I'm trying but our downfall is impromptu meet ups with friends/kids organised by DH and then DH telling me off for not ordering anything in the cafe after the playpark and him not understanding I didnt want to go so won't order anything. He thinks it's rude towards the business. Or DH just invites 6 people over for a BBQ. Can't just then cancel them or just serve them a plain burger in a bun.
. He's not had his lightbulb moment, doesn't like too strict a meal plan (what, there is no prawns in that, let's get some....) and doesn't seem to think we should cut back as we earn well-ish (his just covers his OD every month though, still). And I'm still enabling him, but with situations like above it's difficult . Unless my budgets are just unrealistic and I should include a bit of fun money.
Sorry rant over.
Will have a run today.
Might have to take a few days off again as I suspect DS is now getting chickenpox too, two weeks after his sister. We'll now for sure tonight I guess.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
The rain has gone off at last so we did have a short walk.
We needed a milk so mindful of "Sabotage" I bought some veg etc that we will need later on this week. I am terrible for buying YS items that we don't particularly need/use because they are mega cheap. Hence the two freezers which are crammed with food, The food doesn't go to waste (heaven forbid) but it does sometimes stay in there for some considerable time.
My tablet has broken. I use it a lot so really needed to get it fixed. £20 but much cheaper than getting a new one (which, to my shame, is what I would probably have done previously.
Thrifty - Hope your little cat will be OK. I really miss mine but C and my son refuse to let me have another because they were so upset when we lost her and that was many years ago.
Mothernerd - Hope your Mum is ok.
Have a good evening, everyone.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0
