Homeowner insurance - being petty after I drilled into the wire.

So basically to cut the long story short, a few of months I got a drill, and decided to play around with it, I wanted to make a drilling to hang a filing cabinet in my home office. While, I was drilling, I went through a major electrical wire which powers the house, which meant it shorted out, and since I'd already gone through the safety breaker wire, everything sparked up, it was pretty crazy, it blow out almost all the electronics in the house and burnt wires all over the place.
Insurance lady came out, and she put the damage at around 17K and (not including damage to other electrical equipment) she said not to worry she will come out to pay for the electronics once the wiring in fixed and as a temp measure she said she will pay speak to the underwriters to pay out some money to replace vital electronics like washing machine fridge etc.
So everything was sorted out, well over 22K worth of damage, some things just blow a fuse so, I told them they weren't really damaged like projectors and tvs, and she said just keep them, or sell them on.
Now the problem I have is someone else started to handle this - a pretty rude arrogant cartoon he came round and said, well am not paying for your drill - "you're lucky it wasn't me - this should not have even been paid out to to you. You're not even an electrician."
I tried to explain this fool I wasn't doing electrical work was I drilled though a wire - my brother came down he is a solicitor, and handled it, but the guy is refusing to pay for the drill.
I told my brother I want to make a complaint against the guy, and my brother was like just leave it, it's not a big deal.
Now that cartoon has been telling my brother that I am rude can you believe it. Then he called me and was we are not paying for the drill stop asking us to pay for your drill, and he was like "I talked to your brother even he said you are the one who gets the easy ride off the back of your family's years of hard work."
I told my brother and he laughed it off and said yeah I did say that when I found out you randomly drilled into a wall. Just forget about the drill is what he tells me. "You've got everything else sorted out, why are you going on about the drill. Do you and him have some kind of ego issue here just be the bigger man and let it go."
But I don't want to let it go, I want them to fix my drill pay to have it fixed, pay the price of the drill or replace it.
It's not even about the money now, I can picture him with his smug face laughing.

Your brother is right. Let it go.
If you wish, you can make a formal complaint. You need to get their internal complaints policy and follow that to the full and then when exhausted, you can go to the Insurance Ombudsman.
But you aren't complaining about money, instead, this is about hurt feelings. So what do you want them to do about it? How much do you think your hurt feelings are worth?Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

You can change solicitor if your current one is refusing to accept your instructions0

You're lucky to have had the claim accepted, in my mind you were negligent in your actions therefore it shouldn't have been covered.
That said, you've had your claim accepted and have been paid over £22k for new electrics and new electrical items.
Don't quibble over one drill!
If all you can picture is the claims handlers 'smug face', consider the £22k paid to you will reduce his bonus. So you've already got the upper hand in that respect.0 -

The woman was fine, I thought she was going to !!!!!y and I was like oh damn please home she's not one of these types, but actually she was so cool and chilled out, she was like you will be paid for everything she didn't even question me, I explained and she said it's fine. She even liked the books I had she made conversation was friendly, we joked I was like how can you be single, we had a decent conversation. I mean she was good looking, intelligent and friendly, this guy is just rude and envious.
He was like: "So you own this property? you're young to how did you afford it?" as soon as I said my dad bought it for me, he became snarky, he was like: "Nice Mercedes did your dad buy it for you?, those are powerful insurance must be really high for you" I was like no my dad loaned me the money for the car, at this point I realised this guy is just envious.
He even said: "Some people are lucky with an easy life because dad owns a couple of businesses".
I was like listen mate: "I am going to visit family in Pakistan can you make it quick."
And he said: "Private jet?"
I said excuse me, and he was like I meant you going to be travailing business class?
I wish I had him recorded he was talking down to me like a as if I was some little kid who didn't deserve this.
Yeah so now he thinks he has one up on me because he wont sort my drill out, he is on such a power-trip honestly it's unbelievable.
I said to him can Ms Mann handle this, and he was "NO SHE can't she's moved to Wales."
Which was a lie she hand't move to Wales she was on a holiday there. So when I said she is on a holiday he said well she won't be back for a while and I will MAKE SURE I handle this, even if she comes back.
I said isn't she a supervisor, and he said yes, but she also has a supervisor who has put me in charge.
He was just trying to !!!! me off, and now he is all smug.
I am writing a complaint, but my brother is saying just leave it, you've got more than you were even entitled to, and I tried to explain to my brother it wasn't he sorted it that was thanks to the lady, not this moron.
It's not about the money, I feel insulted and offended. I want an apology from him and want him to fix my drill.0 -
I think he is technically right, insurance normally covers the subsequent damage. The drill caused the damage0

Yeah everyone is like you're so lucky they are even letting you keep items just because their plug fuses had blown. Which I get yes, I am lucky they letting me keep the new and old itmes, I get that, but I didn't ask for this smart mouth fool to come to my house and behave like a complete idiot, on a power-trip, he is just so !!!!ed the claim was done by someone else, he even admitted he would have not have told the underwriter its was my own fault. Max they would have done is replace the blown trip switch.
So this guy is just a jerk, I bet he does this to others too, he makes snide comments, I never said I did electrical work, he said it was covered, and tried to implied I was trying to do electrical work. So he would have got my claim dismissed. That said, you've had your claim accepted and have been paid over £22k for new electrics and new electrical items.

It's about him being unfriendly and moronic, he owes he hasn't done anything for me, he can just replace the drill but now I am going to make sure I get an apology letter from this guy and get my drill fixed.
I don't know why my brother and everyone else things this isn't a big deal, my brother was like you both have some issues, just let it go, but why should I let him sit there thinking he has one over on me?0 -

He says we have gone over and above, and as a good will gesture one of the supervisor has let you keep the old items which are functional. So, the issue of the replacement drill we will not be doing that as the case has been closed, and it will fall under a new case and it will be rejected. When I said I'll take my business elsewhere he wasn't bothered that didn't work on him. He needs to back-down.0 -
Because you're not in the playground anymore.
You be had a 22K insurance payout and you're quibblng over a drill because you and the insurance rep are having a bit of a willy waving contest?
Seriously, just let it go. Life is way too short. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
