Seems you are in the wrong industry....The figures were from Kaspersky....You'll be telling us that they are bending the truth next...angryparcel wrote: »well since i am in the industry i know all about wannacry and i would never take anything printed on the verge as gospel, they are know for bending the truth
The fact is the NHS are using out of dated un patched and un supported software, that is why they got infected.
Almost everytime someone brags about being 'In the industry' or a 'Professional', it's followed by a statement that seems to contridict the fact.......No, exception here..Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

It is XP and some versions of Windows 8
https://krebsonsecurity.com/2017/05/microsoft-issues-wanacrypt-patch-for-windows-8-xp/On Friday, at least 16 hospitals in the United Kingdom were forced to divert emergency patients after computer systems there were infected with Wanna. According to multiple stories in the British media, approximately 90 percent of care facilities in the U.K.’s National Health Service are still using Windows XP – a 16-year-old operating system.0 -
My understanding is that each year thee NHS pays tens of millions of pounds to Microsoft to provide support for software that is long past its support date.angryparcel wrote: »well since i am in the industry i know all about wannacry and i would never take anything printed on the verge as gospel, they are know for bending the truth

They issued a patch because Windows XP and 8.0 were out of support and still had that vulnerability.angryparcel wrote: »It is XP and some versions of Windows 8

However it doesn't mean that the way Wannacry used that vulnerability would work on XP; but the next worm could.
Another take on XP and Wannacry here from Sophos:

Edit: and to return to the topic, if you don't keep taking the Windows 10 updates, then in a couple of years Windows 10 will stop getting updates. I believe the original version of Windows 10 (from July 2015) has already had its last patch.0 -

Are you sure? Why would the home secretary be dictating health spending policy when there is perfectly good health secretary that could do it?0 -

But IT would come under the control of Home Secretary. All IT systems are run from same department in a central location
