The OP sort of implied he wanted a fast connect (maybe video calls would be useful to them)
I had a 1Mbps connection for a few months as it was free.
iPlayer on my smart TV would not work.
And if you wanted to download anything, then just forget it! lol0 -
Large areas of Cornwall now have fibre I am in a TR15 postcode area and have FTTP, worth a read here:-

There is virgin media cable available in many areas. Fibre is available in some areas, not mine although the local exchange does support it.
You could have a look around the samknows site, it gives info on the companies serving the area and details about the local exchange so you can see how far (as the crow flies) the exchange is away from the property. My line is about 4Km and I get around 6-7 mbps and I am currently with sky after they hijacked my Be Broadband connection leaving me with a far inferior service.
If that 1.5 miles is as the crow flies, the line could be a lot longer than that. I am 2.1Km (1.36 miles) away from my exchange with a line length of 4Km.
The following site is fairly good for finding the distance between two points
https://www.distancecalculator.net/
Even the driving distance does not give an indication of the line length because they tend to go down side roads which can really extend the line.
The samknows site is not 100% accurate, it says that fibre is available in my area but it is not, only the local exchange supports it.
https://availability.samknows.com/broadband/
The speed estimates do tend to underestimate the speed. The actual is often higher. My estimate was about 2 to 4 max of 7. I used to get 7 mbitps regularly and 1.3 Mbps up with Be broadband. Now I only get 6.1-6.7/600kbps on sky because the sn margin on the upload has so much that is unused, it's 17dB. Sky have refused to do anything about this.
It might be worth considering cable or fibre if it is available as the ADSL2+ could be poor if the line quality is poor and the line is long. You might get 6, 7 or more if you are lucky or you might end up with 4mbps. It's a gamble.0 -
"samknows" says; You are connected to the Sennen telephone exchange.
ADSL is available in your area
Your exchange is also enabled for ADSL Max services
Your exchange is not yet enabled for ADSL2+ services
Your location should be able to receive service of up to 2Mbps If possible, check with a phone number as these are far more accurate. You are connected to the Sennen telephone exchange.
FTTC is available in your area
Downstream Min: 1.3 Mbps
Downstream Max: 3.5 Mbps
Upstream Min: 0.8 Mbps
Upstream Max: 1.2 MbpsYou are approximately 1.56km from the exchange. Note that this is the straight line distance - the actual cable length will be longer!
Superfast Broadband says;Great news, Superfast fibre is in your area.

You need to use this http://dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.address
Put the post code in, and it should return a list of addresses. Select the property you're looking at and it should advise what's available from ISP's using an Openreach line.0 -
Link doesn't work for me mate.“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and who weren't so lazy.”0

Shortened it, and got this result;
VDSL Range A (Clean) 3.5 1.3 1.2 0.8 0.9 Available
VDSL Range B (Impacted) 2.4 0.6 1.1 0.5 0.3 Available
ADSL Max Up to 3.5 -- 2.5 to 6.5 Available
For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.
This line is on a Market A Exchange.
For VDSL or G.fast Ranges A and B, the term "Clean" relates to a line which is free from any wiring issues (e.g. Bridge Taps) and/or Copper line conditions, and the term "Impacted" relates to a line which may have wiring issues (e.g. Bridge Taps) and/or Copper line conditions.
In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.
Throughput/download speeds will be less than line rates and can be affected by a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.
The Stop Sale date for Datastream is from 30-Jun-2012; the Formal Retirement date for Datastream is from 30-Jun-2014.
If the End User wishes to migrate from their current Broadband supplier they will need to contact the Broadband supplier they want to take service from to arrange for the service to be migrated.
Please note that postcode and address check results are indicative only. Most accurate results can be obtained from a telephone number, NAD, UPRN or Access Line ID (ALID) check.
Note: If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service.
Thank you for your interest.“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and who weren't so lazy.”0 -
Looks like your line is quite a distance from the cabinet, so poor FTTC (VDSL)speeds exepcted, around 1-3meg.
You'd get a better speed from exchange based ADSL services, somewhere around 3-6meg.0 -
It does not look too promising. Take a look at Virgin media to see if they serve the area because their cabling is newer and does not go through the teleco exchanges so speeds might be better.
www.virginmedia.com/broadband
They do 12 month and 30 day rolling contracts with or without a phone line. It depends upon what speed you need and what you can get via ADSL2+ at the property. Whether the extra expense is worth it.0
