HOW MUCH?!?!? for a kitchen?

I got my kitchen from DIY Kitchens - came in a £2600 - this excluded the kickboards, sink and taps which I sourced elsewhere (extra £250).
I had a quote from Howdens but they were rubbish, but I used their design - amended it slightly.
My builder charged me a daily rate - £150 per day - think it took him around 3 days. Total cost: around £4500.
My builder said the quality of the kitchen was first class. It really is beautiful.Smoke Free since 1 January 20130 -
My last 4 kitchens have been from Ikea all around 1.5k for 15 gloss units, wood worksurface. no appliances, we fit and install. Its not that hard!!0

Thanks for you thoughts. We had a quote from Wren of 23k this week, down to 20k as we are fitting it ourself. As there was a sale on it was reduced to 9.5k then the managers special took it down to 8.5k. We have decided to go with DIY, we simply like their product. We have a son who works in engineering and his diy standard etc is fantastic, plus a son in law who is also excellent.
I couldn't fault the customer service of the planning guy in Wren. Very helpful etc. However the follow through, delivery etc is equally as important.
Wren had a fabulous laminate worktop, granite is out of our budget, so now on a hunt for something similar. We bought our appliances from Sonic and got a good price on them. My husband is an electrician so that side is sorted.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
Those sort of pricing tactics would put me right off. When we have had our kitchen done, we made it plain we wanted the best price with no gimmicks, discounts, "I'll phone the manager" etc. One salesman was reluctant to quote because my wife wasn't there. I gave him 5 mins.Je suis sabot...0

We both feel the same. My husband was discreetly prodding me when the tactics started. We had an agreement not to be pressured into buying. I was trying not to laugh as he kept digging me in the side. 😅
Many years ago I threw a certain vacuum cleaner salesman out of the house. He said it would cost £1.34 per week on finance, " Isn't your wife worth £1.34 a week" my husbands reply "NO" 😅 I had to threaten to throw the actual vacuum out of the door, and I had it in my hand ready to do so, before he would leave.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -

Hi , just wondered where you did get your laminate worktops from. I'm in a desperate hunt for something hardwearing that looks like oak as my neighbour is fitting my DIY kitchen and wants me to order it tomorrow(21 Aug) as the new doors and stuff are being delivered in 3 days and he goes on his hols for 3 weeks on 15 Sept. I may choose (laminate) granite if I can't find wood, but the whole thing is stressing me out TBH!!
I chose a Franke sink and just about to order it when reviewers on several sites say they're rubbish, so got to find another one pronto.
Any suggestions gratefully received.0 -

Try DIY-kitchens.com, although I don't know what their lead time is.0 -
They have a reputation for being a nightmare to deal with and not delivering everything you ordered.
DIY Kitchens on the other hand are excellent from personal experience.
I agree DO NOT USE WREN.
Their design service is poor at best - to be honest he was incompetent
Parts were missing - but dont expect them to replace for free
It takes hours to get through to customer services, who talk to you like !!!! when you do get through
The list goes on........................................
For Wren I'm sure its a numbers game, if they have a few unhappy customers so what, most will be somewhat happy to some extent
They know you'll probably only replace a kitchen once in your life so you're not going to be a repeat customer so if they pee you off it doesnt really matter, they have your cash. One man's folly is another man's wife. Helen Roland (1876 - 1950)0
