Is the audio driver showing as working and enabled. You could try and disable and then re-enable the AMD audio driver.

It is showing as working and its driver is up to date. if I click 'disable the device' (which scares me a bit!! :) ) will it be easy to re-enable it(does the button change to re-enable??) ...thinking I might wait til DH comes home after 5....or can I do this

lol you can do this later (but no difference)

I would make a concession. lol

    A) disable and re-able and reboot computer, (Yes it is super easy, just a click)

    if doesn't work. next step.

    B) Uninstall Device (this is what I suggested, thank you for the photo)

Yes, but the point is that it is not working, as I believe you, not what windows says lol.

So let Windows reinstall the driver automatically after uninstalling the driver. As long as Windows detect the device and driver, Windows SHOULD reinstall the driver automatically - This is the beautiful plug and play technology.

If it doesn't work, it is great then I want to see the error massage. At the moment, your device is not working, I rather want to see error massage etc rather than "working" statement.

    Relax :)

I would "uninstall device", then reboot. Not worth playing with something that may, or may not work :)

There is/was a sound issue with Minecraft and windows. I am not a Minecraft person, so do not know if it has ever been patched. Think the issue was vanishing sound in Minecraft.

...also many issues of W10 "updating" sound drivers which bork the sound  ...is this a new-ish or old-ish computer??

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

A dumb question I know, but have you unplugged the speakers from the computer and plugged them back in in the wrong place? Its very easily done!

The speakers should be plugged into the green 3.5mm port as shown in this diagram. Generally most PCs will have a similar setup.

Probably of no help, but its always worth a try.

I think you've gone off on a tangent. Go to the point shown by your pic in post number 13 and then follow the instructions you were given in post 14. Any luck?

No, we've uninstalled the device and it automatically re-installed it, but we still have no audio. I've now had a barney with my DH as he's getting fed up (!!) and I don't know how to find this error report you need. Honestly, I think I'll have to make contact with the folks who built the computer for us .
