Thank you both, your kind words are appreciated more than you know xx

Well DS is now at his Dad’s until Saturday evening. 😟
I miss him more and more, it doesn’t get easier, if anything, it gets worse. I had a cry as soon as he left, sat at the bottom of the stairs like a sad case!, now just trying by to push myself onwards and keep busy.
    I have stuff to do...
I have to go to the post office before 5.30pm and will be staying at oH’s tonight, so need to chuck a few bits in a bag.
I’m currently sat with hair dye on (£3.99 from home bargains of course ;)) as I was starting to look witch-like - after a hot shower i’ll be heading out, hopefully for a nice chilled out evening, I could really use one.

Not the most relaxing or stress-free evening or morning was had, but nevermind. I'm still here! :rotfl:

Another £26.96 sent to the savings today, it's now up to £814. Should be able to add another £100 in the next day or two.
I didn't get to the post office yesterday, ran out of time, so absolutely have to do it tonight.

Bought breakfast today and will be buying lunch. I know I shouldn't, but I'm past caring today tbh.

Not much to add, am hoping for a stress free, low spend weekend, but the way I'm feeling, I doubt either is going to be achievable. :(

£14.76 added to the savings, balance now stands at £828.76.

Thinking of painting my bedroom or the kitchen this weekend whilst DS is with his Dad for longer. I already have the paint and materials, will give me something positive to do too and might cheer me up a bit.

Had a lovely evening last night, but a nightmare when I got home... OH insisted I stay for food and to watch some TV with him and his son. Was really nice, left feeling very loved.

Got home about 9pm, wasnt tired and felt like dong something, so started filling in some holes with filler. :) That's when I discovered the new wallpaper on one wall was ruined and practically fell off in my hand as there was thick black mould under it and the lining paper. :(
Through tears, I scraped the paper and lining paper off and have treated the wall with some anti-mould solution late last night. It's a bigger problem of damp causing it though and in an odd place - no-one can tell where it's coming from - so I did a bit of research and have bought some paint on damp-proof membrane today and will have to paint that over it before getting it redecorated sometime in the future. It's black and rubber-like, so my walls are going to look freaky for a while... I just hope to god I can decorate over it.
This house is becoming stuff of nightmares.

Today has been ok, considering. No lie-in :(, but went off to pick a parcel up that I've been chasing round the country all week - just some printer toner, nothign exciting unfortunately.

I popped into the DIY place and picked up the damp stuff which cost £20, then went to OHs for a cuppa. OH treated us to KFC for lunch (and my breakfast as I hadn't eaten anything) and then we nipped to B&Q where I picked up 2 cushions and a throw. £38 poorer.... but I paid for it with some business takings, at least it's not shoved on a credit card anymore :)

Nothing like a bit of retail therapy eh?!

Now I'm home, admiring my lovely new cushions and throw and waiting for DS to come home. We're having a movie night later, so picked up some popcorn from the shop whilst I was out earlier too. Its definitely a day for snuggling up and staying in, the weather is just awful.

Stay warm, safe and dry everyone! xx

DS as a bit later back than expected, so I managed to run the hoover round the house and get a load of washng done. No chance of pegging anything on the line in this weather (if I want to keep my clothes, anyway) so had to use the tumble dryer.

I think I've just managed to make £40! Within a recent parcel was the usual junk mail, but there was a free £5 t0mb0la voucher with no deposit and no registering of cards etc. It also said all winnings are withdrawable... so I tried it... and won £40! I've quit whilst I was ahead and withdrawn it to paypal. We'll see if it turns up there within the next 2-3 days as it should. That'll be a nice extra bit to add to the savings if it materialises!

DS and I have been fed by OH again tonight and had a lovely evening waching a family movie. We're back home and are both tucked up in our beds.

I spoke to my parents earlier. It was really nice to catch up with them properly, recent phonecalls have been fleeting for one reason or another. They have very kindly insisted that they don't want me to transfer any money to them for the next 4 months now (I transfer £200 a month to the bank of Mum and Dad towards an interest free 'loan' they very kindly offered when buying my first house). I really don't like not paying them. I know they don't need the money, but it is the principle and I feel so guilty not repaying anything monthly, but they are insistent. They said it will help with Christmas and the winter bills. They really are so wonderful to us. I don't know where DS and I would be without them. They have no idea how much that will help me, especially with the insurances and MOT due imminently. So, that is an extra £800 I should be able to put into the savings pot over the next few months.

They also sent me a car today with a £10 winning lottery ticket in and £20 towards diesel for our trip to see them next week. I feel so guilty I'm not more successful in life. They really are so good to us.

I have no plans for tomorrow, except to return the damp paint stuff (my Dad has advised me I've bought the wrong stuff!) and to pick up the correct version... other than that, it'll hopefully be a nice cosy morning with DS and then much of the same with OH in the evening. Fingers crossed! x

  • Morning,

Sorry to hear about the damp situation. Hope it's resolved quickly.

    What lovely parents you have.

Yay to the winnings, hope they turn up.

Have a lovely chilled Sunday xx

    Thanks Purple xx

The winnings turned up overnight, so I've been able to transfer another £57.10 to the savings. It now stands at £885.86. Should be up to over £1k when the refund from the power company arrives. :)

DS and I have had a lovely relaxing morning cosied up on the sofa watching the crystal maze and treehouse masters! Now we both want a treehouse...

I've has the heating on for a bit since yesterday, and had to use the tumble dryer for some washing this moning. I nearly pegged it on the line as it was sunny, but glad I didn't as it swiftly poured down half an hour later.

DS wants my attention, so will return later...

DS is now at his Dad's; the house is not the same without him. :(

I went round OH's for a spot of light lunch and helped him with a few things. I popped to the local supermarket and picked up some bits for food tonight and a few other bits needed for the week. I also picked up quite a few YS bargains for the freezer - 2 packs of thai marinated chicken for £1.87 each and some smoked salmon for £2odd. :)

I'm now back at home with a cuppa and nursing a cracking headache, have taken some painkillers, so hope it clears soon.

I've completed a few more surveys and cleared all those from my inbox for now. The last outstanding £5 voucher hit my inbox today too so I've credited that to my amazon account. It's now at just over £27 which I'm really pleased with.

Off to potter around in the house for a bit; walk up to the corner shop to return a collect+ parcel and then walk back over OH's later.

Enjoy the last bit of the weekend all xx
