Great news speky! I hope all goes smoothly tomorrow and you enjoy your first home.
Take your time with the decorating, I like to get the 'feel' of a room for a while before I decide what colours I would like.
It has rained all day today, so glad I spent most of yesterday in the garden. It's not a big garden but it's surprising how much there can be to do. Washing all up to date too so going to relax tonight.
I hope your DD managed to see her nurse dumpling, must be such a worry for you.
Have a good holiday Lainey.
Have a good evening, take care. XX0 -
Speky congratulations on becoming a home-owner! I agree with the others, live with what you have until you decide which room needs doing the most urgently, and if you can buy sandpaper, dustsheets, brushes, paint etc on B/H weekends when the big orange store has offers on
I would also suggest making your bed up first, before you do anything else, and then you will have somewhere to sleep!

Brilliant news Speky
- unless the place is really dire hang fire with decorating until you can have a good think about what you want. If it is really unliveable a couple of coats of white/magnolia emulsion can cover a mulitude of sins until you decide. When you do decide unless you really enjoy decorating don't go for anything too out there design/colour-wise.....
If it's an older place and the walls aren't too great - lining paper makes a good base for painting on and is cheap to do.0 -
Best wishes on moving into your own place Speky, it's a great feeling!
Hope the move goes well.0 -
Congratulations Specky :j
I hope you enjoy every minute of your new home.
Good luck with the move and the decorating...my advice: bribe your friends to help and have a painting party offering a few light refreshmentsand a couple of pizzas
.
All the very best to you'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Evening all, just caught up on the day's events. Happy Holiday to LAINEY and Happy New Home to SPEKY! Hope you are very happy in your new abode. I agree with everyone else, leave the decorating until you have lived there a short while and plan how you want it and what colours. Meantime stock up on all the necessities - scrapers, paint brushes, pasting table & brush etc. We did all our own decorating until illness got in the way so it can't be that difficult! I did the papering and Mr TA the painting. The emulsioning was done between us!
I was quite restrained at Boundary Mills and didn't spot anything dressy that appealed but I did end up with a smart-casual outfit! A pair of white linen trousers for the princely sum of £8 and a top to go with them in jade, black and white. It wasn't quite as busy as it sometimes can be thankfully.
Have a nice evening folks x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Hello, I am very late but wife has been all patchy.
Lainey, have a great time and Speky I agree with everyone who has suggested waiting until you have been there a little while before decorating. How the light hits a room can make a real difference to the colours you choose. Just make sure you can make a drink, can use the loo and have a bed to sleep in, but above all revel in the excitement of your very own home!I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Speky - good luck in your new home.
Lainey - have a lovely holiday
Dumpling - hope your dd got to see her nurse, you are an amazing mum and are doing a great job. (((Hugs)))0
