After what you have said I am extremely glad that you have got yourself out of that situation, you absolutely deserve someone who is going to completely support you and not act against you.

  • Chandelier,

    Just catching up.

Glad you seen the warning signs early and decided it wasn't for you. As someone who had an alcoholic father which ultimately led to divorce with my mum, you don't want to be with someone who has to rely on a drink.

You know your worth and don't settle for anything less. Be cautious with the friend who wants to be more than friends as if things go pear shaped, there might be no going back.

On the debt front, I tackled my debt the same as yo, spreading payments over various cards. I then took Martin Lewis's advise and pull all my efforts into the smallest debt. With that in mind, I would suggest putting the £100 your spreading over other cards into MBNA #1.
  • Speky I think he was definately a binge drinker.. when he was off work he drunk most days/nights. He claims he wasnt an alcoholic as he could just give it up like that, especially when back in work. I'm sure we all have different definitions of the term.. I for one have always been teetotal and never drank much but during the course of the relationship I drank on more occasions then probably what I have in the last 5 years.. says it all really. Probably wasnt a positive influence.

Anyhow, I've been sorting through my budget and have decided this months budget has gone to pot. I can kindly half ressurect some but its been additional expenses and other random purchases. I'll start again in December haha :D.

I'm just going to watch what I spend the rest of the month and try to not cause much damage lol.

I think I would take a little time before going out with this friend, only because you have said it would be a distraction, if this friend has been good to you and you don't want to lose their friendship then make sure it is something that you would really consider rather than it just being a distraction for you. If a distraction is what you want then maybe someone who doesn't care for you might be better until you are less raw?

  • Morning!

I went for coffee with said friend yesterday, was nice to catch up. We went to a small cafe where it seems alot of elderly people go, which was different atmosphere but nice. Old man friend keeps getting in contact and wants to see me. I said no.

I'm working the next three days then only have one day off before I'm back in. Then I've two days off which will be wedding dress shopping with my sister, which should be nice.

The boy is alot happier, at the beginning of the week he was having issues and being bullied. I've soon put a stop to that and complained about a member of staff who didn't deal with it and just ignored the boy whilst he was stood there crying. I was not impressed. There was no compassion present and for someone in that job role, I'd expect it. I'd be reprimanded if I didnt show any in my job role.

Anyhow I best go get ready.

So I've done a bit more Christmas shopping and updated the totals spent so far. I'm going to list items I've bought so I've a note somewhere of what I have already bought and it will keep me on track. I'm aware I've slightly gone over budget in one area or so but hope to pull it back in another.
