Quartz worktops

Having considered all the options, I think I have settled on quartz for the worktop.

It will be a light colour, maybe white and pale grey or similar.

I have read online reviews that say some of these are prone to staining, so I have soaked the samples in tomato ketchup and puree for a couple of days, and so far so good.

Does anyone have pale quartz worktops, and if so what brands are good? Are there any brands that you've had staining problems with?

I thought it was granite that was liable to staining, rather than quartz? Can't help with your query, I'm afraid - but I will read other replies with interest as we are considering changing our laminate to granite/quartz at some point.

Never heard of quartz staining, our Caesarstone has been in over a decade & is still as good as new.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

I have Teltos quartz worktops. Kitchen ones in black and utility room in white, both with mirror flecking (Bianco Stella and Nero Stella).

I have had them about a year and haven't managed to stain either yet. They appear to be pretty tough and easy to clean. I avoid putting hot pans directly on them but apart from that they don't get any kid glove treatment. I'm very pleased with them.

If you are anywhere on the south coast I can recommend my supplier, Landford Stone.

    I'm in Herts.

Thinking of ordering via DIY kitchens as I have samples from them, but open to suggestions.

Well, all I can say is they did a good job on my large kitchen/utility. They came via my kitchen designer rather than by me approaching them direct.

    Their website

    http://www.landfordstone.co.uk/

suggests they will supply across the country.

Edit: Just spotted they don't have Herts in their list of areas but as they do London and Oxfordshire they might come to you.

I don't have any connection with them other than as a satisfied customer.

it just occurred to me. You have stain tested with tomato.

If you really want to test it make up a paste of turmeric and leave that on it for a while.

I've never used turmeric and don't plan to start now.

Next test will be red wine. Much more likely to find its way onto the worktop that turmeric!

Our quartz worktop was from diy kitchens. Been in a year without any issues. I was very happy with the worktop company as well (DIY kitchens sub it out to someone else). I also though it was granite and marble that suffered with staining, that was why we went with quartz.

I'm sure red wine will be a suitable alternative although I'd rather waste a teaspoon of turmeric than even a drop of red wine.

Me too. I'm not the tidiest of cooks and I do use some ingredients with a reputation for staining. :rotfl:
