Three 321 Axing free 150MB with Top-ups from 23 May
Just got a text from them about this, directing users to this page: http://!!!!!!/2qulZ7U
Having looked on Three's site for their current tariffs, they appear to be replacing the 150MB with 10MB, so I would have a lot more respect for them if they said they needed to save money and had taken this step to avoid raising their per unit rates. See here: http://www.three.co.uk/Support/pay_as_you_go/Phone_tariffs .
They could also have added some clarity to the announcement (the new 10MB I presume, and whether (as it seems) you can get more 150MB's if topping up before that date.)
I'm now in two minds whether to stay with them or not as I have been putting up with a quite poor signal at home because of the price (the 150MB was enough to for it to cost me nothing when I occasionally need to use the internet away from WiFi.)

150 MB doesn't go far. Their 3p/min call rate is good for those who want a PAYG SIM for a spare phone, or "emergency" use. I'm not aware of a lower cost PAYG that doesn't expire after 30 days.
I have a Three PAYG SIM in a remote alarm installation, it gets a test once a month... that's around 27 years use for a single £10 top up!0 -
So if one goes and buys a load of £5 top-ups and loads them onto the SIM now, will they each retain their 150Mb freebie?0

How about https://www.1pmobile.com
Your credit never expires, as long as you top-up at least once every 120 days (4 months) you keep it.0 -

The account ceases (I guess) after 120 days if you don't top it up, not so good for occasional use, although for regular users 1p/min is good.
4p/min calling and 1p/min to receive calls roaming in the EU, I wonder what their tariff will be in mid June when EU roaming should cost no more that calls in the UK? EE have hiked their SIM only prices by a huge amount in the past few days and 1pmobile use the EE network...0 -

No. What's left of the freebie after 30 days expires.
I have some months had part of the freebie expire and other months paid a few pence for extra data. It was a great deal for my use as I don't currently use enough to justify buying bundles.0 -

I use WiFi all the time and only switch on mobile data when I get it free through a top-up. 150MB has always lasted me a month, as all my big stuff comes over WiFi only.
At 1p/Mb for data on their 321 plan, it isn't so bad if you rarely use it and mostly rely on WiFi. Shame to lose the free 150MB, which I wouldn't totally use up in a month, but the 321 plan is still a good rate for PAYG.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Thanks, I'd forgotten about the time-bar. Yes I'll stick with the 321 plan for now as it's still a decent tariff.0

I'll need to stay put for a few months at least (I currently have £5.07 in credit and part of a freebie for another few weeks.)
1p mobile would be more appealing to me if the minimum top up was £5. £5 on Three usually lasts me 3 months so I think I'd end up too far in credit there.0 -
why not get a three data reward sim then just swap that one into your phone when you want data.
I got one recently for my spare phone and it gives 200mb (lasts 30 days) a month free every month providing you register it with their site . I dont think it can make calls (havent tried) but I have texted TO it successfully and it works in dongles and mifis0 -

The data reward SIM will make calls. I have one and have tried it. Once registered to get the 200Mb each month just top it up like any other 3 SIM. According to reports the cost for addition data, calls and texts are the same as the 321 SIM.0
