I have recently upgraded to an eBay featured shop. Last month was my best month ever, but whether that was related to my upgrade, I have no idea. My sales have been good and when checking competitors sales, I am outselling them by lots.

The £10 packaging voucher is given to you every month, but eBay specify who you can use it with, and their products are limited and very expensive. Howver, I can't resist something for nothing and ordered some padded envelopes. They are fine apart from the massive eBay logo to both sides.

You could try the eBay fee calculator to see if it would be worth upgrading.

To be clear. It isn't so much as eBay "specify who you can use it with" but that you can only use it with ONE seller, Swiftpak.

No, you can't roll it over, so if I you don't spend it, you lose it.

I am another one who also thinks that big chunks of Ebay must be turned off at times.

    Some days I have 3 or 4 sales, others it's a gap of 3 or 4 days.

Is it also something to do with more people looking via phones and tablets so not as much is displayed on the screen?

It may be a coincidence but I turned on cross promotion a week or so ago and have seen a significant rise in sales - not huge numbers but big in % terms. Mostly low value but then that's mostly what I sell. Or maybe it's true about being switched off at times.....

Never underestimate the power of the smallest of promotions. It always astounds me that what amounts to a 25p (5% off £5) discount can do to boost trade.

Can private sellers use the cross promotion features?
I have noticed that if I am watching something and it gets reduced I often get an email saying so, and even if it is £1 it sometimes tempts me to buy it.....therefore is it better to list at a price then after it's got a few watchers, start reducing it a little bit?

I don't know on private sellers. There are different ways of getting promotions going, you can just list at a price, if it picks up watchers but doesn't sell, the watchers receive notice that you have relisted at a lower price.

I misspoke when I said cross promotion - what I've switched on is item promotion so if someone looks at another seller's page my item may show as an alternative. As I say, not sure if it's that or not, but sales have picked up markedly, albeit from a low base.

    I'm a private seller .
