Much as everyone hates the way Ebay treats sellers. As Lady Dee shows ,if they didn't automatically take the buyers side, things would be a lot worse.

    I agree.

Often when I look for something and get a hit on amazon, but only on 3rd party sellers, 9 times out of 10, I then goto ebay to try and find the same item, why?

Ebay has better policies, for one encouraging sellers to ship faster.

An item I ordered from an amazon 3rd party seller, still hasnt shown up 3 weeks later, I never get that kind of service from ebay sellers.

So bare in mind these buyer favoured policies are likely also giving you extra business.

An example is "fast and free", free delivery that typically arrives within 2 working days, good luck finding such a good delivery deal on amazon.

I should think 99% of my purchases are from Amazon, not third party sellers, so I get very good delivery deals. So many of the 3rd party sellers are the same people as are selling on ebay anyway, but it's horses for courses, whatever works for one won't work for somebody else. Of course it very much depends on what you are buying.

I agree they the same people, but because they dont have the ebay policies on amazon, they can have worse service.

Amazon direct tends to arrive when they say, if not maybe a day late, but never had something not arrive several weeks later. Even amazon direct is bad value tho, prime products tend to have a price premium, and if you not paying for prime then the only free delivery option is a minimal 3 working day wait. In addition some products (typically small products with low value) cannot be ordered standalone and require something else in the order. Ebay has no such limitations. Ebay is brilliant for buying small things like fuse's as an example. However if you have prime I think its a good deal if you order a lot of stuff, since its a fixed cost. Bear in mind tho most 3rd party sellers are not prime affiliated.

Well, as I say, sometimes ebay suits, sometimes Amazon. I have just ordered two items from Amazon - total price of £28.98. Free shipping (not Prime) due Wednesday. Identical items from sellers on ebay would have cost between £33.44 and £50.09, and who knows when they would have turned up.

I just went on amazon, picked a random product and on the checkout page if I choose free delivery the estimated date is between 29-31 may O_o, shocking. Yes it is in stock :)

Getting a wednesday estimated delivery for a monday order via free delivery on amazon I consider pretty unusual, usually they wont have even dispatched it by then, never mind delivered.

2 Weeks ago I ordered a UPS from amazon.

It said in stock but no known delivery date when picking express delivery, and a 9 day wait for standard delivery.
I then noticed 2 days later it had an earlier delivery date for a later order, odd? So reordered but this only shorted the delivery by one day.

In the end I cancelled a second time, ordered on a friday afternoon for saturday delivery from ebuyer, the cost including delivery was about the same. This was also a item stocked by amazon direct, and even then the shipping speed was slow. Amazon play that risk by taking days to dispatch there is a big window to cancel and shop around.

Things have picked up a little bit. Prob due to it being the end of the month

I have a private and a basic shop. But I am wondering if anyone got a featured shop?? Is it worth the extra in the way of exposure of your items?? Don't know whether it would be worth scaling things up.

Also what is the £10 eBay packing voucher and the £10 listing upgrade credit??

I bought a toaster on Amazon last week, could have paid £2 less on ebay but I really only buy odds & ends there. It wasn't suitable, printed a returns label on Sunday, dropped off at Collect+ at 10. a.m. Monday, by the time I returned home at mid-day received an email from Amazon that my refund had been processed.

When ebay sellers can provide that level of service (which of course is unrealistic) then Amazon it is for me.

Sadly there is no way on this earth a small business seller .trying to make a living selling online , or indeed in a bricks and mortar shop be able to compete with a multi billion pound global company.who I think don't pay tax in the uk??

But I would really appreciate input from someone who has a featured shop.

This weekend I am knuckling down and seeing how and where I can get my sales up..

It's been so irractic again this week.

So I am wondering to up my game and go for an anchor shop to see if they give preference to bigger sellers. Or are sellers with an anchor shop in the same boat?? I was just thinking their listings might get more exposure.

Even contemplating looking into a shopify Facebook shop

I have recently upgraded to an eBay featured shop. Last month was my best month ever, but whether that was related to my upgrade, I have no idea. My sales have been good and when checking competitors sales, I am outselling them by lots.

The £10 packaging voucher is given to you every month, but eBay specify who you can use it with, and their products are limited and very expensive. Howver, I can't resist something for nothing and ordered some padded envelopes. They are fine apart from the massive eBay logo to both sides.

You could try the eBay fee calculator to see if it would be worth upgrading.
