hi all and hugs to those who ned them today
Made these healthy cereal bar type things today which were supposed to set in the fridge but didn't so I baked them instead ...... healthy concrete anyone? It might have had something to do with the fact that I didn't have rice crispies so used bran flakes instead and misread golden syrup and used honey. Might sort of smash it up and call it granola
Dd came back from Daddy weekend with that brain train thing - my brain age is the same age as my actual age - 41 - how weird is that? totoaly addicted now
spent the day doing the aforementioned baking, filling out passport forms for dds and picking up dd from after school early to watch that sarah jaynes adventures. Also went to matalan for bday present for mate tomorrow. bought a perfume bottle and a picture frame but it was on a 3 for 2 so middle dd picked out a perfume bottle for her christmas pressie. I said I felt bad about her choosing her own pressie and knowing it was free but she pointed out that she has wrapped her own presents for the past 6 years (i detest wrapping almost as much as packing) so she owuld have been bound to see it anyway
have got some microwave steam bags from aldi to try out so tea will be veggie lasagne and steamed veg
have a good afternoon
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Hi again everyone
Left Dunkerque this morning, and just arrived at Tours, read the thread while DH snoozed - well he has been driving all day poor thing!;)
Going on to Bordeaux tomorrow, and the probably Pamplona in Spain on Wednesday. Should arrive earlier at these two with time to look round - its 18.14 here now, and we will be going out for a meal shortly.
We are taking the route which avoids using the Toll motorways to try it out, and so far so good, plus we are seeing a different part of France than the way down the A26, A6, etc. Trusting the Sat Nav!!  I'll keep you posted how it goes as I know Chalky is interested. BTW did you mean to say anything in the PM you sent me as all it was was a quote of mine to you?
Birthday greeting you 2 who's names have escaped me!
(((((hugs)))) all around, especially Jackie0, Crazychick (I don't do attitudes, I hope OH is supporting you with it, and certainly school trips would be in jeopardy) all others having tests, hope the answers are back quickly and what we all want.
BTW My very short (well you can't diet when travelling) but very intense blitz last week took 6.5 lb off, but it will probably go back on this week so will start again when I get there.
Take care all

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hello everyone! haven't managed to post for ages but we're going on hols tomorrow so wanted to say a quick "Hi and goddbye" to you all. I've managed to read the thread most days, but haven't read today's yet but noticed that Queenie started off today's thread, what a nice surprise! Welcome back hun!
Pink-winged - will be thinking of you all, especially DS, tomorrow - best wishes to him for a speedy recovery from his operation. (((HUGS)))
AussieLass - have a lovely time with DGS! Bless him, it's great to know he enjoys his time with you and DH so much.
Hardup Hester - is it just me who thinks so, or do you always seem to end up with really odd people as lodgers?
Hope the current one has embraced the concept of your computer not being for her exclusive use by the time I get back at end of next week!
Anniestar - glad Phoebe is better! My son-in-law asked me the other day when we were going to get some new cats. I said, "Well, we thought we'd wait until the babies (i.e. DGS and imminent sibling) are old enough not to try to pull them about or run after them." "Ah, when they're about fifteen then," he said.
Chalky - hello! Just thought I'd add a little excitement to your day
I really enjoy reading all your posts, sorry I can't reply individually to everyone but I will be thinking of you, especially those unhappy or ill.
Not done much OS lately as not had much energy, but have kept up with the washing at any rate! There's a black wash in the WM atm, some of DS's stuff so he won't run out of underwear while I'm away - he works such odd hours he's hardly ever in to get his washing done! When I come back I'll hopefully be invigorated and will really enjoy looking forward to trying to get the place looking reasonable again. I was looking at the de-cluttering thread last week and someone said she was determined to have a clutter-free house by Christmas - what a great idea! Don't think I'll quite manage that though!
Right, must go, dinner's ready and I want to find the time from somewhere to read today's thread afterwards!
Take care of yourselves, everyone, while I'm gone. I'll really miss reading about all your doings! See you again soon.
Love, ivyleaf xx:wave:0 -
Evening all
very quick post from me, I've had the raging squits all day, sorry if thats too much info. Am also knacked as the lodger can't sleep & woke me up at 3:20 this morning, she drinks green tea with 4 types of natural caffine in it, so no surprise she can't sleep. But it's not her fault I wake up if a knat f**ts 3 streets away. So I'm off to bed, hugs to those in need

night night all xxx0 -
Wrote a post earlier but it "vanished " somehow.
Lovely to see Queenie back.:j
Hester
Hope you get a better sleep tonight.
DH (after a lot of hinting) drove me to Lidl this afternoon so the fridge is full.
Have dried peas soaking so I can add a bacon joint, potatoes, onions and carrots and make soup in the slow cooker tomorrow.
DH has just driven off to the airport (over an hour away) to pick up neighbour and family from their holiday.
DD(21) has been showing DD(13) how to make bread rolls and the smell of baking is pervading the house.
Great excitement as half the rolls look as if Mummy made them! Think that is a compliment!
If anyone has teenage girls (13 ish)they want presents for I have just found that thebookpeople.co.uk have some really good offers on book sets. Ally's world books (10 for £9.99).
The offshoot called red house has a complete set of "Mates, Dates and """ - a set of 12 books for about £18 which works out around £1.60 a book!
I bought a set of books to hide away as emergency pressies but DD has pleaded for something to read and has started reading a set of Meg Cabot books called "the Mediator" which she seems to really like. (also on a good offer!)"This site is addictive!"

Just finished watching Nigella - Isnt she just fab! poodling around london with her pea soup and going to dinner parties - makes me realise just how much a domestic goddess i am - NOT!:o :rotfl: :rotfl:
I'm am thinking of batch making tea and freezing it in so that I can save time waiting for the kettle, squeezing tea bag etc - by just zapping it in the microwave!:rotfl:

Night night xxxxDo what you love :happyhear0 -
A late hello from me!
Hope everyone is ok.
I've been busy over the past few days. DD1 returned from her school trip on Friday after having a great time. Also, on Friday DH and I went to a fancy dress party dressed as Mel Gibson in Gallipoli and Doris Day in Calamity Jane. It was a 'Movie Stare' themed party and there were all sorts of great costumes including Gladiator, Pirates, Blues Brothers, Dorothy from Wizzard of Oz, Cleopatra, Bugsy Malone, Catwoman, Power Rangers etc I was shattered over the weekend as I'm not used to partying!
Over the weekend I caught up on my os activities, cleaning, washing and baking and spending some quality time with DD1, whom I really missed last week.
Today I did a big shop in Home Bargains, Aldi and Asda, so hopefully I will only need to get a few fresh items over the month. I also finally cancelled our milk delivery as the price has gone up from 77p to 95p per litre in just over a month! I do feel a little guilty as our milkman is so good but I think the Dairy will find a few of its customers cancelling their orders.
Right time for bed, see you soon!0
