Really sorry to hear this is dragging on still.

Did you ever get around to making a formal complaint as I seem to recall earlier posters recommending?

How did it get transferred to Sheffield? Are they another office of the original firm of solicitors?
I was in the process of making a formal complaint... then the initial solicitors went bankrupt and was put into administration. That was the reason why they were completely ignoring my phone calls and emails for weeks on end.

The new solicitors in Sheffield is the company the account was transferred to by the administrator.

They told us at start of November it'd all be wrapped in within two weeks, haha. Maybe before Christmas, but I won't be holding my breath!

Just a calamity of errors for seven months.

Update: No update. Was told on 23rd of December via email that it wouldn't be completed before Christmas - haha!

The same email also stated that the solicitor in charge is out of office until first week in January due to a family emergency.

We tried ringing him on Friday, but it went straight through to voicemail, so we tried their general office number and they confirmed he is working and assured us he would ring back.

    Has he called? Nope.

Update: My mother contacted the new firm on Friday who assured her everything was done and we'd be emailed by tonight at the very latest.

Well, guess what, it's 4pm and still no mail!

Update: After being assured last week that we'll receive an email on "Monday night at the very latest", it's now Wednesday afternoon and still heard nothing. Will wait until tomorrow and then call them again, although having tried that several times in previous weeks it usually ends in "the solicitor you want isn't here at the moment but he'll ring you back once he gets your message" - and then he doesn't call.

Update: We tried ringing three times over past three days, each time getting a different reason/excuse as to why the solicitor cannot come to the phone.

    1. He's not in office
    2. He's in a meeting and will call later
    3. He's on lunch

    Very weird, again. Ahh.

Why only phone once a day?

    Good point.

He finally got round to emailing last night, but not with the news we'd hoped for. We were told last week they'd have it all wrapped up by this Monday, but last night he essentially told us the following:

The trust fund is still open and the other kid who is part of it has been asked some questions regarding funds that were given to him over previous years (no idea - but this solicitor says the answers will be shared with us).

It seems some funds from this kid's separate inheritance (remember, he was supposed to get the same share as my mum AND a quarter of the trust fund) made their way into the trust fund and were paid out to him, meaning it's all muddled up. Completely incompetence by previous solicitors.

There was bunch of other stuff and the solicitor told us if he feels we've missed out financially due to the way things have been handled by other firms he'll let us know and advise us how to best proceed in terms of getting money back off them we may or may have been owed.

He now says we'll hear from him within two weeks.

Nightmare from start to finish, no end in sight.

    Sigh.

Update: Two weeks up tomorrow, still no word, obviously.

    The wait goes on.

Update: Two weeks come and gone, plus an extra day, no news. Yippee!
