I spoke to MBNA on the phone they state I have CIFAS information on which is preventing them from offering me that account. They told me they got this information from Experian and I should contact CIFAS for more information.
Once you've got a response back from the National Hunter SAR, if it is clear, you should write to MBNA and enclose copies of the letter from CIFAS, NH and also a copy of your Experian report showing that there is no CIFAS marker against your name and ask them to re-evaluate their decision to not give you a card.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. Thanks for the information. Yep our names are completely different and we have never applied for anything together so they is no association between us. I don't see how there could be anomalies in the applications. Is it worth to send a SAR to National Hunter? or Should I apply elsewhere as I'm eligible for Tesco and few others?0

Wouldn't you rather deal with this issue first and get it sorted rather than apply elsewhere and the same thing happens?
I would send a SAR to National Hunter, for your peace of mind if anything else. Once you have evidence that there is no adverse info/CIFAS markers against you, this is what you need to confront MBNA with. You may find that they appeal their decision and give you a card along with some compensation for the wrong info.
Usually a company who accepts you and then rescinds that offer will do so because of CIFAS marker. In your case if you've got it from the horse's mouth that there is no marker, then you need to get to the source of why MBNA are refusing you a card. They could have lied and said business decision, or that you failed secondary internal checks whatever they may be, but no, their customer service rep specifically told you it was down to you having a CIFAS marker against your name. Only you would know, did you materially alter any of your details for this application when compared to others you’ve done in the past?
Discrepancies like significant changes in income, time in employment, details like mobile phone numbers (used by other applicants previously) would all trigger a NHunter alert.====0 -

In your place I would forget all about CIFAS and National Hunter for the moment and instead, if you are sure there is nothing wrong with your credit files and you are sure you haven't been telling any lies or exaggerating your income etc in your application, then forget all about MBNA and their card and apply elsewhere and see what happens. This is the best way to see if the problem is real or something specific to MBNA or just some sort of template rejection letter and you will never know why you were rejected.0

I just spoke to MBNA as my score dropped because MBNA reported the account opened for one day and then closed so this brought my average age of accounts down. I know the score is nothing but it annoyed me so I rang them.
They still said it is a CIFAS against me and they said they were surprised that my SAR came back empty. The advisor told me to SAR National Hunter (I have already sent this off) to see if it bring up anything but they wouldn't offer me any facility with the information that's currently showing. One thing to point out the advisor kept hinting at CIFAS and he even spoke to others and again hinting back at CIFAS.
Also after applying for MBNA and before finding out they were gonna close it, I applied for a HSBC overdraft on my current with HSBC which they kindly declined but they pointed out the reason in the secure messaging such as I had 2 or more returned items in the last 3 months, so fair enough.0 -

If they are still blaming CIFAS then you need to follow through on the advice I wrote earlier about waiting to get the all clear from NH and then writing to MBNA.

When you say the advisor was hinting at CIFAS, did they actually specifically mention the word CIFAS at all?
I would definitely not be putting in applications elsewhere until you get this sorted because if the same thing happens again, you'll be left with more wasted hard searches and no answers as to why you are being declined in the first place.

Yes, just waiting on the all clear from N Hunter.
Yes I quote "my team over are actually quite surprised that your Cifas came back clear and the only thing I can suggest is that you try National Hunter to see if it pulls up anything"
I also raised the question that if CIFAS data that is preventing MBNA from offering the account to me then can you tell me which markers it is such as Cat 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,3254,14234,123124 to which the agent replied "We are not required to tell you which type of CIFAS marker it is"
I'm not disputing that they tell me what marker they see as I know they don't have to but it come down to them seeing something on CIFAS.0
