you should aim to minimise tax payment as much as possible. its only the right thing to do.
thing is its impossible to reduce it when you are on PAYE. so you gotto move to contracting or start a business.
modern day slavery. you work all your life paying taxes. then you die and anything elft over is taxed above a threshold.0 -

YES you should be paying more tax....you are clearly not paying enough to cover social care costs....so the tories are going to come after your property equity instead!0 -

exactly. in fact why not just work more and more to help society. lets just all pay more taxes then required. lets all live in a socialist society where we dont have to work and everything is given to us.0 -

Do you think I:
(a) should pay less tax
(b) pay the right amount
(c) should pay more tax
I think moaning about how much tax you have to pay achieves very little. My husband is a Partner in a GP Practice and actually pays more tax than you - he accepts that he's a high earner and that's the way it is. He's also 'very' busy and arrives home tired and emotionally drained. However, he appreciates the fact that he is well paid and has the ability and good health to actually work.
Sorry, but I have little sympathy for people who are relatively well off and moan about their tax situation. My sympathy is with the poor and vulnerable members of our society - many of whom do not have a voice0 -
Well I know of certain families. A couple working, brought husbands parents in from India. Now their parents are living on housing benefit in a nice 3 bd house along with their lill kids (3 gens in one house). The couple initially bought a house but now they have rented that out. So they get luxury of staying in a cheap rented house in a nice area + getting rental income from their another property.
Here I am paying taxes to fund this hideous scheme.Bank accountsSantander : 17 year relationship, 0 problems to date.0 -
I remember hearing someone at work a while ago saying "we want the social benefits & lifestyle of Scandinavia but we don't want to pay the taxes"
Don't know if it's true or not0 -

Think you are spot on. It wasn't until I established my own business that I made any serious money. My only regret was that I had not done so sooner.

I put a significant of my salary into pension, so it's not impossible to reduce when you are on PAYE.0 -
