  • Good morning all! (Breezing back in as if I haven't been awol for ages)

Life has just been too busy recently, I'm struggling to keep up with anything, so even visiting the thread seems like an indulgence. It isn't though is it? Because the housework has got away from me again, and its because I'm not on here - even looking at the lists just gives me a bit of focus. I'm sat here in a midden. It's just been crisis cleaning. I've had dust to clean up every day because of work going on in the kitchen. The builders start properly on Wednesday (hooray, managed to talk OH into this after he realised a busy one-man business, two children and a dog leaves no other time in the day for house doing up) so I need to get me and the house in a good place for next week.

Sorry I'm rambling. Hope everyone is well, I've skim read this weeks thread, but not taken much in, except that Dizzy I hope you are OK and things are getting better, and Piggers, good to hear about the job, and hope something more appropriate comes up soon. It's easier to get a job when you already have one.

    Right.

    Lists!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Level one of Monday done, plus Dw unloaded and reloaded, WM on, bed made. Now off to take the girls to their riding lesson. More flying later...

Huge congratulations on the two year anniversary FBO! I'm really pleased to be able to tell you that the longer you stick with it, the less often it feels as though a tipple would help with the dreary side of life.
Wow, is it really two years, FBO? That's great - well done!:T
I'm coming up to the 15 year anniversary of my last cigarette.:o

I've lost the hot water bottle again. Where do people keep them so they are easily to hand when wanted?
I use microwaveable wheaty bags rather than a HWB, but they live in the 2nd drawer of the little cabinet beside my bed when not in use. :o

YL I know where you're coming from; I too feel guilty if I take time out for myself. But sweetie, you're doing two paid jobs AND running the home; you'll burn out if you don't ease up on yourself. Is there any way you can browbeat/cajole/bribe/misdirect the other members of the household who, let's face it, contribute to the mess, to take on some of the household tasks? Just persuading everyone to (for instance) "leave the bathroom as you would like to find it" would be a start! Have a (((HUG))).

We're well ahead with "bed maintenance" today :D The bedlinen has been stripped, washed and is now dry (Mr LW brought it in from the line a short while ago); the mattress has been turned, and fresh bedlinen put on. BM is on for a loaf. SMS from dogsitting company received and dealt with - now awaiting contact details via email for potential new guest *fingers crossed*.

    Afternoon all.

Iona - hope you keep awake for the concert tonight.
ATB - glad you had a good time.
FBO - 2 yrs, well done.
HB - I keep the hot water bottle in the medicines cupboard.

This week I have sort of kept up with dailies and cleaned the bathroom top to bottom. That's it.

Today I have cleaned two cars, taken the dogs for two walks, done four washloads (but it's not been the great drying day I was hoping for) and been to bowls.

Going for a run soon. Will then crash in front of Eurovision.

    Have a great evening everyone.
Spend less now, work less later.

Very well done FBO and LW on your anniversaries :T :T

Thanks for all the good luck wishes - my presentation went very well and the initial unofficial feedback was way better than I had imagined it would be. I was lucky to be on first, so got it out of the way by 10.00 and then sat back and listened to/watched 7 other people doing something similar. It wasn't nearly as boring as it sounds! By lunchtime the threat of migraine had cleared and the sun the came out :)

I collected DH from the other end of the steam railway from his usual haunt - it was only half the distance to drive from the place where I was on my course today, and we were going to a concert in that town. Drove to a local pub for a superquick evening meal (his train had come in late, as usual ) and on the way *in* he tripped over a slightly raised manhole cover on the car park and pulled his Achilles tendon again :( Triple OUCH! I have never heard him use bad language, and it wasn't the worst by a long way, but he was obviously in a lot of pain. Fortunately he could put his foot up during the concert, so he did, and the performance (film and other music played by an ensemble of violin, viola, cello, oboe and keyboard) was excellent and we both enjoyed it very much, but he is sleeping in the downstairs bedroom tonight and I've dusted off the crutches that I acquired last summer - knew they would come in handy some time!

I have to be out at 8.10 tomorrow, so I've made up the breakfast bowls tonight and am on my way to bed now. G'night all, see you on the new thread x

Well done on the presentation Iona and hope OH is on the mend soon.

LW thank you. I was just wondering if you are visiting my part of the world, am I imagining it or did you stay at Cropton near Pickering once?

BM I know what you mean about just logging on here making you feel like you need to do something even if you cant keep up with it all! I like to look and see what is on the list every day even if I dont manage it.

So todays plan is to get caught up with housework, do some exercise (dog walking/cycling or both) and REST. I simply dont rest enough and that really is not helping my mental or physical health. I find it hard but I need to break this habit of feeling that I need to be constantly doing something. I will be taking LWs advice and cracking the whip a bit too.

    But first more coffee.

Yes, we stayed overnight at the New Inn at Cropton last September; Mr LW had been given a Red Letter event token for that, including a tour of the microbrewery there, as part of his retirement present.

We're going to Hawes for 5 days next month; found what looks like a nice hotel, and they can cope with my wheelchair, so that'll be a welcome break. :o

I'm glad you're going to rest a bit more and pace yourself better (yeah, pot calling the kettle black, I know).

I'm doing a spot of whip-cracking myself; Mr LW has reverted to his annoying habit of turning on the pc (which has a rather noisy fan) and nodding off in front of it, so I'm afraid he got told rather sharply to turn it off if he's not actually using it, and dust the inside of the dvd/video cabinet instead. He's also on "rain watch" as I have a whirligig full of washing outside.

I need to make a nut loaf as we used the last 2 pieces out of the freezer on Thursday, and an apple'n'something (I'll decide what "something" when I see what wants using up) crumble, so that's next on the agenda.

Wolfy - noisy fan might be dust-covered. Time to 'do a Valli on the inside' as Toots would say?
(Open it up and vacuum/air dust the heat sink)

    Ironing...mending...sock pairing

    shoot me now!

My sister would have had her birthday today.

Thank you for the thought Valli, but no, the innards are cleaned regularly - though I may just make today a take-the-side-off-the-'puter day, just for the hell of it. ;) It's just that it's a very powerful fan, and it hums at just the right pitch to annoy me as it clashes very unpleasantly with the pitch of my tinnitus. It's always been like it, right from when we bought it. Mr LW is unbothered by it.

(((HUGS))) on what must be a very difficult day for you. x

This week I've tried to keep up with the daily tasks etc.

Does anyone use the Flylady app? I think the routines on page 1 of this thread suit me more.
