Thanks for the lists Valli and Natty; much appreciated. I hope today is a good day for everyone, particularly Lynne, Dizzy, and Mr and Mrs Lamewolf. Healing vibes for everyone with any kind of lurgie, particularly Dancemum. That cough seems to have been around for a very long time - is it worth seeing a doctor again and asking for a referral if they can't work out what's causing it? Good luck to MiniFlys doing SATs.
Why is it that our normal, sensible OH's don't realise that if they just pitched in and did a little something we'd be a little more likely to give them a hug than a tongue-lashing? I've taken to compiling a listy for OH so that he knows there are certain things that I just can't do on my own and need his help - I expect him to turn to, not just pretend he isn't involved. I've also pointed out that if he leaves it because he thinks he hasn't got time, I have to do it and that's not fair. Very, very surprisingly saying that made all the difference.
I've scooted round the house and tidied generally so that things don't get out of hand here, run a couple of loads through the WM and hung them out on our new trolley. Fab. I've also found my clip of master lists, shopping lists, useful notes, money off vouchers etc which I thought I might have dropped in the supermarket carpark in France. I think I'd crash and burn without it.
It's going to be a very, very busy five weeks.Better is good enough.0 -
Morning, I'm new to the FlyLady world, my house isn't too disorganised but I find if the kitchen is a mess, I can't be bothered to clean up anywhere else. I've downloaded the app, watched some of the 31 baby step videos on YouTube.
I love the shine your sink, but do you still have washing up bowls and drainers on your draining boards? We had a new kitchen last year and I have the bowl and drainer to prevent the sink becoming scratched but the area does look better without them.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -
Afternoon
Thank you for all the lists and work that goes in to them.
Whole house hoovered
WM x 3 all now blowing on the line, but it is still cold here
Recycling out in right bins
Kitchen all clean and kitchen floor done
Been on my volunteering job for a couple of hours this morning, going again locally or about 1/2 hour
OH is creating (yet again) heaps of 'stuff' of his (mainly paper work) about the house, not happy, it will all end up in a couple of large cardboard boxes and in the loft again......how much paper work can a man have...................

Currently researching steam cleaners. Any recommendations?

I bought it with @mazon vouchers at Mr LW's behest, and it does what I need it to do (great for getting gunk off the bath lift; and it brings the shower screen up a treat) and it isn't too heavy for me to lift about. I don't do the floors with it for the simple reason that we have carpet or carpet tiles in all rooms.

ETA: I see it's gone up in price - it was £49.99 in Feb 2016.Honey_Bear wrote: »Why is it that our normal, sensible OH's don't realise that if they just pitched in and did a little something we'd be a little more likely to give them a hug than a tongue-lashing? I also have a crockery drainer because (sshhh - don't tell the FlyLeaders) we sometimes wash up and leave the stuff to drain - what Mr LW's grandma always referred to as "It's a clean mess" apparently.
We're still both spluttering, and going through hankies like nobody's business. I've made an executive decision not to iron the last batch of hankies washed, we'll just use them unironed, to save unnecessary work, as we're using so many.
Mr LW has also texted his mate and suggested we postpone his visit to us on Wednesday. The guy has COPD and he really doesn't need our lurgy as well. I've suggested he come a fortnight later, as we'll hopefully be fully over it by then, and also we shall have Cassie Dog here then.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I have a chrome basket that came (as an optional extra) with my sink. I too leave pots to dry, not least because drying pots is the jobs I absolutely hate...by the time I have cooked, cleared and washed up (stuff that I can't/won't put in the DW) I am heartily sick of seeing the pots...
Whenever I am helping someone out (or helping at a fundraiser) I always bag the task of washing up...:rotfl:Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
That's better; I have no idea why the site decided to duplicate my message, rather than just do the edit I asked for, but I've deleted one of them.
I may just do HH Decluttering - of embroidery silk onto Aida fabric. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi all
Just checking in quickly, need to get some more paid stuff done. I have developed a sore throat, have taken echinacea and vitamin c in the hope that one of these helps me to fight this off!
Flying. Well. I have made tea and cleaned the kitchen up, put the dw on, run the carpet sweeper around and made our bed. Oh and I have cleaned and polished the cooker hood. Thats it so far.
DS1 has just come home from work with a bunch of flowers for me as an apology for his shenanigans on Saturday night. Lovely arent they Mum, and only two quid from Li@l! Bless him.0 -
Wops,
My cat has just arrived in with a cooked chicken thigh in his mouth..............goodness knows where he got it from, but I guess one of my neighbours is part of a chicken short tonight......................I best hide in case there is a knock on the door!!

Good evening
Paid stuff done - much quieter day than I had anticipated. DH has finished his 'album'. It is called 'This is what happens when I have too much time on my hands' :rotfl: I had to bite my tongue!! Oh well, he could be doing worse and it keeps him out of mischief.
We have a week off work in June, and DH has asked what we are doing. The temptation is to have a list of jobs and get stuck in, but when we get to the end of the week and have done nothing we will just be fed up about wasting our time off. I have suggested camping  I love nature, but I am not a natural camper!! I have suggested the New Forest, and have spent the afternoon looking up things to doI have my eye on hiring a tandem for the day, and a 2 hour horse ride through the forest!
A few things have been done off the list - DW has just finished, dinner has been cooked and eaten. I am going to spend the evening doing paperwork, as usual!0 -
Evening all,
This morning consisted of making beds
S&s bathroom
Wm on, out and blowing in the line
Spent time making and playing a new maths game with DD, which included painting pebbles much to her delight.
Made a birthday cake for DH, after we popped to the local farm shop as we were out of eggs.
Also washed up and left on the drainer to 'drip dry'. Karen we have a bowl to protect the sink as with other people which I put away after each use, and a drainer not only for 'drip drying' but ours has a plate stacker thingy which makes it easier to get more on the draining board.
This afternoon I've:
HHI ironing
Reorganised and cleaned the fridge
Emptied and cleaned out the bottom long drawer in the kitchen
Gave the potted rose on the patio a BIG drink
Emptied the last bag of slate on to the rubbish non growing patch in front of the living room window
Made fruit jellies for DD
Done dinner related stuff
Hugs, sticks and spoons for those that need.0
