Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Thank you Valli for last week's thread

It is your responsibility to read the forum rules, please follow them on this thread as Flylady has been here a LONG time and is a fabulous support and resource for lots of us.

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

WM ~ Washing machine
TD ~ Tumble dryer
SC ~ Slowcooker
BM ~ Breadmaker
DW ~ Dishwasher
SOAADFA ~ Sit on 'bottom' and do 'nothing'
KH/XH/FW ~ Ex-husband and other not so polite versions
DH/DD/DS/DW/DP ~ Dear husband/daughter/son/wife/partner/whatever
OH/SO ~ Other half/significant other
NN ~ nice neighbour
Toxic (friend/mother/sister/whoever) ~ person in your life that seems to exist to make your life miserable
AF ~ Aunt Flo 'time of the month'.. nothing to do with flying but it comes up often.
ETA ~ Edited to add
Gibble ~ miscellaneous crap that appears forever homeless
Dot-to-dot ~ pick a small area (not a whole room) like a chair/coffee/table/shelf/worktop or wherever- thats your first 'dot' - totally clear it - clean it - and only put back what should be there - deal with what you have removed (not just move it somewhere else) then if you have time move on and do the same to another 'dot' -the idea is just like a dot to dot puzzle, you aim to join up all the dots and have a tidy room. The trick is to keep each dot tidy until you get them all joined up! All credit to AnW's Mum for this one
RoD ~ Room of Doom, the one room that feels like it is a permanent pit and cannot be used to its potential!

Mr S/A/T/M/L/Al - supermarkets Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi. You get the picture!!

Thanks for this weeks list Natty and for last weeks Valli.

I'm in this week, house isn't particularly untidy or dirty, just need to keep on top of things.

    Thanks for the new thread.
Just finished my busy week at work now goibg into my quieter week. Praying for some warm dry weather so I can wash the curtains and blinds. The Countryfile weather forecast has not given me an optomistric outlook.

DD2 has her ks2 sats this week. They gave them a pep talk on Friday and she had a meltdown about them Friday night. I've bended my boss's ear for early doors at work tuesday and wednesday.

    Wishing all a good week.

Thanks for the lists I'm in :)

Busy week ahead again (when is it not?) starting with a full day of paid stuff and volunteering today.

I 'put the kitchen to bed' last night, and put yet another wash on, so I'll peg that out in a mo. Also need to check online banking, go to the post office and school runs.

    Have fab days all x

    Morning

Good night sleep, in fact I havent woken up yet!

Paid stuff no. 1, then gym, then paid stuff no. 2. Need to check online banking and post DHs monthly invoices. Chicken pie for tea, need to call at Li@l for a few bits.

Got mountains of washing done yesterday but the kitchen cupboards need a going over and it wouldnt hurt the floor to have a wash.

Right, best get moving, have a good Monday everyone x

Good luck to al SATs takers. My advice is read the questions carefully...twice. And if you're stuck move on to the next question.

Another busy weekend in Valliland. Wash basket *almost* empty...yesterday was a fabulous drying day.

Currently researching steam cleaners. Any recommendations?

    Hi all x

Thanks to Natty and Valli for the thread.

Just decluttered DD out to school, OH and DS1 have already left for work so I've got the house to myself to get cleared up. (well DS2 is in bed but he'll be there most of the day so I'm as good as on my own)
First load of washing on the line and I'm about to put a second out there too.
Whole house is looking like steptoes back yard as we have been out all weekend so I've got nothing done.
    Better crack on!

Morning all. Just had PT, waiting at Mr W for a friend. Coffee, then AA meeting and then more coffee.

Will fly on return. I nearly lamped DH yesterday. He commented that I seem to have been rather busy this week and how unlike myself I was - I forgot to vote:eek: Arrived at the door just as they locked up. I was furious at myself.

Anyway. He seemed to think I should be sitting relaxing on a Sunday evening, so I pointed out how much I had to do. His comment - maybe cut back on the work commitments so that I can indulge my gym, meetings etc as 'you are mentally much better then'

I bit my tongue. After his exams he is getting a Flylady list of his own. :rotfl:

Actually, I really appreciate that he notices that I have been busy. I just wish he'd take a more proactive solution. I was hanging washing out at 0600 this morning!

    Have a great week everyone.

    Good morning :D

I will try this week - thanks Natty for the lists, and Valli for last week.

This morning I have managed to tick a few admin jobs off my list - backing up invoices, registers and diaries. I need to just check the bank accounts and then I am out this morning.

Have a good day everyone :)

Many thanks for the list Natty; I'll do what I can. I hope you're OK honey x

Just going to put a load in the WM and then will go into the kitchen with the list and see what I can do before work comes in. Was flat out working all week so didn't manage to fly at all - on Tuesday I had 10 jobs in!! Let's just see how this week pans out.

FBO well done on biting your tongue honey. I get the same here too and sometimes I end up grinding my teeth so hard my jaws ache.

Funfairprincess oh I hear what you're saying - ours is like Steptoe & Son's on a really hectic day where they've been turning stuff out; it is a disaster in here and the whole house is way out of control.

Valli sorry but can't help re steam cleaners as never used one. I think the Karchers are meant to be pretty good but I have no actual experience.

Mumto5 hope DD is OK with her SATs. I'm actually dreading this time next year as S will have a melt down as he has dyslexia and dyscalculia so he'll struggle. Why can't they do SATS on fixing things as he'd do great at that!!

Making goid progress today. List edited as appropriate. No windows open it is freezing in E$$ex.

Ive gathered together all paperwork and have ruthlessly editedit it and despatched piles to the respective adult child. Why does it all end ip on the table?

Our bed washed and new sheets put on.
    One hot spot decluttered.
I'm on a mission today, got to keep busy so as not to worry about DD2.
