After receiving two letters from DRP in the last couple of weeks regarding overstaying a 2 hour stay carpark which I wish to dispute. I was followed from one town to another whilst driving with my baby daughter in the car and was told my vehicle was going to be seized. I asked for paperwork and was told he did not carry them on him. I got back in my car and phoned the police. After waiting about 20 minutes he drove off. Advice from police was to contact them and despite the ticket but if anyone else tries it again to Contact them again. I don't want to waste police time so need some advice as to where to go from here please. It was very intimidating.
Thanks
Thanks

Are you saying that DRP said that to you ???0 -
Debt Recovery Plus are powerless Muppets they can't do anything, I don't think anyone on here has ever reported them ever doing more than sending silly letters or phoning people.
You were right to call the police whoever this was, was harassing you without authority it seems.0 -
Yes DRP said he was seizing the vehicle. The police said to contact them to dispute.0

DRP cannot do that, they are a completely powerless company.
THIS WOULD BE THEFT
I suppose you did not get his name or reg number.
Wonder what other members here think of this and what to do next, the police should be involved a lot more0 -
Have you been framed? You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

Not his name but reg was given to police. I have been given an incident number if I need to ring them again.
Do I need to do anything or just carry on ignoring them?
Bit worried in case they do it again.0 -

All I can say is the normal advice about DRP ... IGNORE THEM.
If it happens again then it's straight to the Police.
They can find him from his reg number
It would be harassment
DRP will read this forum and now they are aware0 -

Pretending you are an officer of the court (i.e bailiff) is a criminal offence.... call the Police.0 -
I have never heard of this happening - they imply in letters that they have powers like this, but never heard of it being tried on.
Keep that crime ref to hand and call police if it happens again and ask that it be reported as harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act and ask that they take action against the company. They should go and serve a PIN or give them some other warning and it will be in the police database.
If it happens again although we advise not to contact these people, I would be inclined to write a letter before claim to say you will sue them for damages and a permanent injunction under the P from Harassment Act if they make any further attempts to contact you.
Write a detailed account NOW of exactly what happened and sign it so you can produce it as contemporaneous evidence should it ever come to it. Take photos of the person and the car and reg if it ever happens again.Although a practising Solicitor, my posts here are NOT legal advice, but are personal opinion based on limited facts provided anonymously by forum users.
