How do you find that wrap in this weather sweet? I had a close caboo leant by a friend but found both me and Clara got way too hot in it. So we have a Connecta now which is just one bit of fabric but admittedly still pretty warm.

I'd love a wrap one too though as she slept better in it so just wondering if the is a cooler one.

I have a close caboo (the nct/lite model which is a bit lighter than the cotton one) and it is fab. J loves it. He was screaming in town today and within seconds of going in it he was asleep. In true mse style I went to John Lewis and tried some on, then bought it off ebay for a third of the price. I also know people who recommend sling libraries. When really hot we've put a damp muslin in between us (works at feed time too)

I'm pleased today as my haakaa pump came and I just tried it and got 60ml in about 20 mins!

I have the close caboo lite that I hired and as with you Penguin, the minute he's in it he's fast asleep. Will definitely be looking to hire the next one up when I return this one to the sling library before deciding on one. If you can get to a sling library I would highly recommend it!

Sweet I really like the look of the wraps but worry that I won't have it secure enough. Baby looks so snug :)

That's odd, I sent a reply yesterday. Wonder where it went!

It only arrived on Sunday so we missed the hottest of the weather but I felt fine in it, and so did he - however, he's just been wearing either a babygro or a vest since his first day.

    It's 100% cotton.

April, I did worry too and tied it a good few times before even putting him in - and then held him anyway while he was in for the first while :rotfl: however, there are the three bits of fabric that are holding him securely.

We had a busy day yesterday, including registering him. By the time we got to the office, he was screeching to be fed :( so I ended up feeding him right through his registration and then the walk back to the car.

We bought a crinkle cutting knife for slippery foods like banana. It did make it easier for him to pick them up. It's also just really cool, I was crinkle cutting everything for a while until the novelty wore off :rotfl:

I think BLW weaning is brilliant, I'm sure it's really helped with his hand eye coordination and fine motor skills as it gives them so much practice of picking things up and playing. He was using pincer grip a couple months earlier than average. Also using a sippy cup himself.

I agree with all the points Toots said, gagging can be scary to start with but they soon get past it. we watched some good time lapse style videos of baby led weaning showing progression and the sort of foods they were eating.

Don't be concerned if they're not eating much to start with, or even several weeks in, they're still going to be getting all they need from their milk. It was a while before Fred started properly eating the food. Now he's like a hoover!

But weaning definitely is a messy business! Feels like we're just washing up from meals constantly.

Definitely pleased that we bought the cheap plastic IKEA highchair!

Thanks all. It was very tough at that point, I was also struggling with the trauma of the birth so I ended up having some CBT to help, before returning to work, which actually helped me regain a sense of myself.

We did purees to start with, but quickly started offering proper bits of food to her. Started off small, and gradually worked up. I was too nervous about the gagging to start off on purely BLW, but to be honest, knowing what I know now I would do it 100% if I had a 'do-over' in that respect. The gagging wasn't as bad as I imagined and was always shortlived. She has a huge appetite and is not fussy at all - preparing things with spices in. Her favourites are Moroccan chicken (or turkey), tortilla pizzas, mushroom risotto and peri peri chicken (she sucks all the sauce off before chomping down). The only thing she doesn't seem to like is strong fish like salmon. But she gives everything a go. I'm so pleased as I was a nightmare as a kid and it continued into adulthood. I had to work really hard to undo all that. I know it can all change during toddlerdom, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

She took her first steps around 10 months, at 11 months she could toddle a few steps before falling and now, a week before her first birthday she's mastered keeping upright indefinitely, so she walked in a circle (between me, her dad, granddad and nana) for about 45 minutes on Saturday with a huge grin on her face, bless her.

Does anyone else have relatives wanting to feed your baby chocolate, sweets, cake or jam sandwiches at every given opportunity? I don't mind her having a little taste now and then, but I want it to be infrequent, not a standard after meal thing. So I keep saying no, and now I'm getting snide remarks about it. I know full well that she'll eventually be exposed to it pretty often, but they've been trying to get me to give her this stuff since she was 4 months old (when I point blank refused as I wasn't prepared to start her on solids until 6 months)! There's plenty of time for junk food later on, surely?

Euronorris, that used to drive me - and still does, btw - absolutely mental with my daughter!

There's no need to eat that sort of thing, especially not habitually - which it often is.

To this day, my parents still let her eat tonnes of crap :undecided

13 days old today and we've had the health visitor and midwife pop in today.

He's back to birth weight of 9lbs 4oz and is off the scale for length. We figured he'd be big because his dad is 6'2 and mine is 6'4.

Graduating to this thread, hi all!

Have HV tomorrow and baby vanilla is just over a month old but still wasn't at birth weight last week, so will be interesting to see how the weigh in goes tomorrow.

Still feeling a bit sore post c section and have a recurrence of bleeding so not sure if I've been doing too much around the house.

Penguin, i was looking at the haakaa pump but saw some reviews of not being ideal for big boobs so have held off till now. Glad its worked for you!

Glad to hear Fred is doing well, Freddie!

sweetbabu, I would just be laid back about it. Do your research (Gill Rapley book is good if you have time to read... I still haven't finished it entirely :rotfl:)so you're armed if people think it's strange for not doing purees. Stick with it too, even if it takes some time for baby to eat much - there are so many plus points (no razy puree prep, fine motor skills and chewing develop quicker etc.). Honey before 1 year is the only no no, just watch salt content.

Oh gosh yes! In-laws seem to mention taking him to McDonald's, or giving him ice cream or picknmix pretty much every time we see them.

I think they're just joking...but it's a concern seeing as how they'll be having him a day and a half a week soon. we'll be making sure he's got food prepared for during the day. They don't get the idea of eating healthily at all...they add salt to salads for goodness sake!

Strangely, the only food that our boy didn't take to was banana! Banana!? You'd think that would be a standard baby thing. He'd eat everything happily but definitely seemed to turn his nose up at banana.

He likes it now though, after persisting with it.
