Hi I have two girls; L who is 3 years and G who is 5 months. Two is hard work but in a lot of ways it isn't as hard as adjusting to parenthood when you have your first. I was so worried about how difficult it would be and actually it's not been bad at all and it's so lovely seeing how much L adores G.
G is a good sleeper at night which is amazing after how bad L was. However I'm having trouble with her daytime naps. She needs a lot of rocking to sleep and won't be put down so only sleeps in our arms, the carrier, the pushchair or the car seat and often wakes after 30 minutes still tired.
No teeth yet but lots of chomping and crying. L didn't get her first two teeth until 9 months and then no more until 13 months so I'm not expecting her to cut any soon.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Thinkpink, mine doesn't seem to like porridge either. Though I haven't tried in a month or so, so I should try again. I found she didn't like any 'dessert' other than fruit puree for a while, then all of a sudden she wolved down one of the ella's kitchen fruity porridges (it's more like a set goo really, don't know how to describe it). So your little one may adjust in time. In the meantime, you can just give any other meal/puree (whatever your little one usually eats at lunch or dinner) at breakfast time. We did for a while, just in smaller quantity.
Kynthia we had the same issue with daytime naps for Mia. It only changed this weekend, after we installed blackout blinds in the nursery. Literally, every nap before that was in our arms, pushchair, or carseat. But mostly our arms, and after lots of face stroking, ear circling, and her sticking her fingers in our mouths (I don't know why, just seems to be her comfort thing). She naps less and less in her pushchair and carseat. She really fights it, no matter how tired she is.
No one warns you how sharp baby's teeth are!! 3 separate times she's chomped down on me now. One time she drew blood. Little vampire!
Anyone's little ones got any allergies? I was expecting some, as I have a couple of allergies, but she's got a completely different allergy to me - peanuts! Thankfully mild, in that it's just a hive like rash, but was really surprised by it. Hoping she grows out of it. We have to do some gentle testing every couple of weeks, by adding a bit of peanut butter into her meal and watching for a reaction, but I feel so mean doing it.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Oh I may have to try that Euro. I'm going to try fruit pancakes tomorrow as he did use to really like those so fingers crossed he hasn't gone off them too.
We had an awful night last night! Lucky he then slept in and we have no groups or anything today, so I think just a nice walk then a nap!!0 -
Mmmm, pancakes! I made some banana and coconut ones on Tuesday, and they were well received (by me too! haha).
Did anyone else gain weight AFTER baby arrived? I did. Another stone! Eek. I've only just gotten that off in the last few weeks. But the first few months I was just always sooooo tired, and sooo hungry, I just shoved any food available in my mouth!!February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Hi all!
I've one baby girl, MJ 9 months.
So far so good! She's been weaning and teething on and off recently. I'm still breastfeeding here, thinking I will carry on till she's one and maybe then put her on straight onto cows milk if we can.
Weaning has been going really well, no allergies or anything so far. She did love porridge for breakfast but now we are on toast.
Currently we do 1 baby play class and swimming lessons. Everyone has a pool where I live so swimming lessons are really important.
I've a nice small group of friends which is great as I've no family around at all. Excited to go and fly home and see them at end of June. It's very difficult without a family support system - not going to lie, I'm not sure if I would do it again without being home.
I've lost all my baby weight but I'm about 4lbs more than I'd like to be so I'm gonna work on that094 Sealed pot member! (7) €185 (8) €138 (9) €€250

Thinkpink- i have a boy and girl. We started trying when ds was 18mths then I had a Mc but luckily fell again 2 mths after. I wanted them close ish in age while I had all the baby stuff sitting About the house. It's only recently I've started to sell on the baby stuff as we are done now, couldn't afford 3 sets of day care fees!!
I use whole cows milk on dds breakfast, I forgot I used the Ella's kitchen cereals too but she didn't like them that much.
I lost all my first lot of weight quickly but it's stuck this time! I'm always on the move so thought it would have shifted quicker but it could be that its not budging cos i've survived mainly on tea and biscuits since dd was born last year lol.Mum of 2 :j0 -
I put on around 2 stone when I was pregnant and lost nearly all of it within a week of the birth (Isla was 9lb 5oz - think all the bread and chocolate I ate went straight to her!). I've put on half a stone since though, breastfeeding = starving constantly! Tiredness doesn't help either, it's so much easier to grab a bar of chocolate than make a proper meal. I've just restarted Slimming World this week so hoping to get back down before the nice weather arrives.
I'm desperately broody and have been since a couple of days after having Isla. I really miss being pregnant which is ridiculous considering I moaned all the way through and said after the awful birth there would be no more. I think I would like another two children if we're lucky enough to be able to do so. I'm lucky to work from home so no nursery fees.0 -
I have to say I'm really surprised but I'm actually a stone lighter than when I fell pregnant! I don't think I actually gained much during pregnancy and was definitely all bump but I never expected to actually weigh less! I think it's because I walk lots and also whilst info graze its no where near as bad as when I was at work!!
I walked about 5 miles as I wanted to go to some shops that I don't usually go to as I wanted to look for a christening outfit. Got a lovely little silk romper which was just what I wanted in the debenhams sale... I just need to hope he doesn't grow too much! I'm going for a walk tomorrow too- my local council have sadly made so many cuts, including stopping all the stay and play sessions (I used to go to a lovely under 1s group and found it a really good way of making some mummy friends) but they are currently doing a buggy walk trial so I'm going along on that.
I try and go to as many groups as possible, but do find they soon add up! We go to a sensory group and a musical group every week as well as swimming lessons every Saturday which he loves.0 -
I was similar Tinks. About 2 stone gain in all. Within a few weeks of the birth, I was only 10lbs above pre-pregnancy weight. But bf definitely makes you hungry. And the exhaustion of a new born. I just ate so much junk/convenience food that I gained another stone! I, naively, thought that once I was back in the office it would drop off, but my colleagues have so many treats! I never realised how many until I started WW. In the first week I had to resist, doughnuts, cookies, cakes, sweets and TWO lots of bacon sandwiches!!
I'm achingly close to pre-pregnancy weight now. 5.8lbs as of Monday. But I'll be continuing after that as I was already overweight when I got pregnant. I'm aiming for middle of the healthy bmi range for overall goal.
I think I ate a lot of my feelings to begin with. Adjusting to motherhood was much harder than I expected, exhausting, and I wasn't coping very well with the trauma of the birth. It feels like I spent the first 6 months of her life crying for one reason or another.
Something I learned about myself: I don't cope well with sleep deprivation.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Hi all :-) I have a grumpy baby at the moment! ! So not being very MSE as I need to get out the house for my own sanity.
Considering she's only 8 weeks she needs a LOT of attention - any tips?! I think she needs more naps in the day but she really fights them.Officially Mrs B as of March 2013
