Paint - an optional extra
I see that Nissan are up to their old tricks again
The new Micra (from about £11,500 for a 900cc version !!) is available only in "beige" unless you pay extra for a different colour - since "beige" is not a very nice car colour - Nissan are effectively making paint an optional extra !!

No but they are obviously trying to squeeze more money out of buyers by doing thisGeorge_Michael wrote: »Why?
Surely if the colour options and prices are clearly stated and customers aren't being tricked or forced into paying extra for a particular colour, Nissan aren't doing anything wrong.
Why do they just not charge more and include a paint option as standard ?
Perhaps they could make "seats" an option - which would be OK as long as the stated this at point of purchase ??
This is going back to the dark ages when a model T ford was only available in Black !!0 -
There are some people who view a car as a tool or necessity and who don't give a toss as to its colour so why should these people end up paying more to cover the whims of people who want something different? Why do they just not charge more and include a paint option as standard?
And no, they couldn't make seats an option as the vehicle has to meet the requirements under which its type approval was granted.0 -

Don't all dealers offer base colours and any others are option?0 -
They probably sell so many in that colour that they paint them all beige from the factory and changing the colour is what costs.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

"Only available in beige"
Are you sure? I couldn't even find beige on the configuration page of the Nissan website.
As far as I can tell, the base colour is ivory.0 -
Why make the only free paint beige ?
Surely white or red would have cost the same ?
But beige being a disgusting colour means they get more people paying for an option...0
