That Audi has rear parking sensors so god knows why they bumped into you. But yeah, this is a 50/50 without any witnesses/CCTV

I don't know about the Audi system but in my car you can turn the volume down or off completely in the setting menu, also, mine, although factory fitted standard equipment has a separate speaker (doesn't work through the audio system) so can be drowned out if the radio is too loud, there is of course the chance that the person in the Audi maybe a little mutton jeff.

How do you get your trolley of shopping to the boot if you reverse park in a supermarket car park. Yes if it's a single line of bays with a footway behind, but not if it is back to back bays.

This,^^ I have seen so many cars hit by trolleys with people pushing them between cars when they have reverse parked

ps I am in and out of supermarket car parks many times a day, have been for years

Third party to blame 100% IMO

Usually this would go 50/50 BUT from your photo you can see that the other driver has reversed way too far out of their space (are those 2 black bollards next to her car i.e. for pedestrians?). That'll go in your favour.

Maintain that you were stationary at the time of the incident, and your insurer should have a good argument there.

Although, it does depend on what the other driver says. She could say you reversed out after her - without CCTV / Witness then it'd probably go 50/50.

Your insurer can get hold of the CCTV. Tesco are more likely to give it to them than to you.

Tescos stance is that the car park cctv isn't recording unless they are aware of an incident at the time so no luck there.

In my brief encounter with the third party she will probably try anything to weasel out of liability

Looking at the picture again I struggle to she how she can claim you hit her.

She hit you almost in the middle of your car, this is to your advantage if was nearer the back end she would have more of a case.

Even if she claims you were moving, you are moving away from her and she clearly backed into you, as someone mentioned previously your car cannot move sideways!

Please keep us updated on what the insurance say, you might have to fight your case but its worth doing, the picture you took will go a long way to prove your story. Did the third party take photos? if not they could 'shoot themselves in the foot' by claiming something that your photo disproves.

Not all Audis have parking sensors, it is an option. Parking sensors on my Audi are hidden.

Looks like 50 / 50 to me. It appears she was completely out of her space, whilst you were only part way out?

People like that driver of the Audi and many others scare me. Do they just assume that no one is behind them and reverse and see what happens?

If they'd had driven out forward they would've seen the other car's reversing lights and made a decision whether to continue to pull out or not.

That assumes the other car's reverse lights were actually on when OP started his manouevre. I took it as OP moved first. But yes, reverse in if possible.

If OP can confirm that he was stationary, and other driver drove into a stationary object, OP should take 0% fault. But there's no evidence as yet...

Get together your photos, diagrams, your story and submit. If your story lines up better than her (made up) one, it'll help your case.
