Car park incident
Options
I'm reversing out of car park at tescos , half way out when car further forward and opposite begins to reverse out. I think they'll stop any time soon to then move forward but they don't and reverse directly into side of my car.

Is this likely to be her liability or 50/50? I was stationary at the point of contact but no witnesses although I'd guess tesco have cctv.
Thanks for any help

50/50 definitely. I'll let you decide whether it's better to reverse into the space in future or not.0

hindsight is a wonderful thing but if you saw them coming thinking they will stop in a minute why didn't you either beep your horn or/and move to get out of the way?
I would say with no witnesses 50/50. I would try to get hold of the CCTV if there is any, now before it gets wiped.
Good Luck0 -

To be fair, going by the OPs description if they had of driven out forward they would have needed to stop to wait for the third party so it wouldn't have made any difference to the outcome although might have to the insurance claim?0 -

Like you say, hindsight. Had no reason to think they weren't going to stop as it wasn't like we reversed at the same time. I was already out.0 -

The problem with most supermarket car parks is that they are not set out so you can get to the back of the car if you reverse in, making putting shopping in the boot next to impossible.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

I think in car parks like this you always have to be on the defensive and assume that the other person is going to be an unaware idiot so that you are prepared to get out of their way. I saw a similar incident unfolding yesterday and disaster was only averted by one driver taking avoiding action, I suspect the other one never even saw the car they were about to run into!0

You wont get the CCTV from Tesco. I had my van broken into in a Tesco car park and they would only release the CCTV footage if the police approached them. Its all to do with this data protection rubbish.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

If they'd had driven out forward they would've seen the other car's reversing lights and made a decision whether to continue to pull out or not.
Did you read the OP.
Op started to reverse out, noticed the other car reversing and stopped. The other car reversing didn't stop and hit the OP.
If the OP had been driving out forwards, the same thing would have happened because the other car reversing wasn't looking where they were driving.
Other car is 100% in the wrong from OP's description but proving it might be difficult. All your base are belong to us.0 -
How do you get your trolley of shopping to the boot if you reverse park in a supermarket car park. Yes if it's a single line of bays with a footway behind, but not if it is back to back bays.0
