    They do if people buy the wrong car for the type of journey they do. My Mondeo has just hit 120,000 miles at 7 years old and is on its original DPF, DMF, Clutch, Turbo and injectors the same as my last Mondeo was (DPF excluded as it didn't have one) when I sold it at 8 years old with 165,000 on the clock.

    Just to show small turbos can be reliable I've just read of someone who has owned an original smart 599cc turbo for 16 years and he is just about to clock up 150,000 miles.

    The engine and turbo have had no work whatsoever. He just has it serviced every year, fluids replaced as per schedule, jumps in and drives it, regularly checking the oil between services, but it never uses any.
