The chances of a council property for a couple with no children are very low, in most areas zero. They won't even qualify for emergency accommodation unless they are deemed vulnerable (eg pregnant, some disabilities).

Why are you not going to be living there byronwells?

    1. I am unemployed so not a good idea.. Got no income to show...

    2. I do plan to live there a couple of months later once I can get a job etc.. But on her £19k and £21k £600 per month is affoardable

Where are you planning to live instead, and can your wife not stay there with you?

Perhaps the agents suspect you are going to move in without telling them? Which would be a reasonable assumption given you are married and have no other plans. Are there family members you can both stay with as an interim measure?

Is it definitely affordability she is failing on, does she have a clear credit history?

F*#k, I need to sort my finances out. Not gloating, but I earn just over 40k and would only just about call £600 a month "easily affordable"

Sorry, not much help but I wish you both all the best. Hope something comes through for you. :A

No they don't suspect anything.... Because there is nothing to suspect at all... She has got a clear history check, she has passed their credit check that is not the issue

Hey, don't take it the wrong way buddy. This whole site is an eye opener for me day in and day out to how much money I p*#s up the wall.

I genuinely have the utmost sympathy for you and hope this can get resolved.

Is there nobody who would be willing to be a guarantor for you?
