We are going to be homeless....

Options
Alright guys

We are in need of very urgent help... Currently at the moment me and wife are in a private property paying £520 per month but by the 23rd of May we need to be out.. This has already arranged so there is nothing that we can do about that..

Since we knew this was going to happen a few months back we have been looking for other properties.. We did find one via the Letting agents for £600 per month... Where with them they have to do a credit check and so on for £250.

Currently my wife is in full time work earning £21,000 per year.. Sadly I am unemployed and I won't be living their straight way.. So it would only be in her name...

But because last year she only earned £19,850 they need a guarantor or they find another tenant and get to keep the £250 money...

I don't get to see how we need a work guarantor when they have seen her bank statements which shows she has got £4k in there at the moment. Also with the £19,850 we can easily pay the £600 per month

This really not fair and now we are really screwed because we have not got long at all... And we haven't got £250 to loose as well...

The letting agent might not want to know, but what about the prospective landlord - have they run it past them?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

We are only dealing with the letting agent at the moment.. No idea of how to find out who the actual landlord is..

The chances of a council property for a couple with no children are very low, in most areas zero. They won't even qualify for emergency accommodation unless they are deemed vulnerable (eg pregnant, some disabilities).

Why are you not going to be living there byronwells?

Find a different property with a different letting agent. Make sure the agent is a member of professional associations. A small local agent will be better than an agent that is part of a national chain.
