Hi,
I am travelling to Spain and was wondering if there was an official source to confirm how much hard cash in Euros is a person allowed to carry on the flight into Spain.
Many thanks

I can't remember the source, but I do know that if you carry ten thousand or more Euro (or sterling equivalent) then you have to declare it to Customs. No-one in their right mind would take that much money in cash, so unless you run a money-laundry the question is not of practical importance.0

Be aware that even though amounts above 10K have to be declared, any amount above £1K leaves you open to question and the money liable for confiscation if you can't prove the source. Make sure you have ATM slips or a withdrawal note or something similar showing a (legitimate) source of the cash.0 -

Never take more cash than your insurance policy will cover in case of loss or theft, usually £300 or £500 maximum0

I'd also be concerned about insurance for that cash in case it was lost or stolen. Most travel policies only have a very minimum cash cover. I've seen them as low as £100 but generally around £300. £500 is high cash limit.0

The HMRC rules open to you questioning and possible confiscating of cash over £1000 if you can't provide evidence of a legitimate source of the cash. Obviosuly if you can subsequently prove the source you get it back.Evolution, not revolution0
